Was most likely statute barred or similar, the £75 quid is probably a little something to make you forget about it, instead of taking it to the FOS, where it would have cost them £500 quid extra in referral fee`s.

Given the history of Resolvecall, I would frame it and hang it in a prominent place.
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
    • When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
    • "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

    Yes cash it
  • Hello there & thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. I've read all the previous threads & still not 100% clear on my next step.
On Friday afternoon I had a hand posted letter through the letterbox from Resolvecall  with (among the templated printed text) some handwritten personal details of mine (case / name / reference etc) , in relation to my outstanding Student Loan from 1997-1999 and includes the info "In light of the current pandemic we are looking to contact yourself, in order to understand your present circumstances'.

I had previously (3 weeks ago) received a formal typed letter from ResolveCall & this thread had been useful in that I didn't respond to it as advised....as they were likely casting out hooks on the debts they buy cheaply to see what bite they get.

Anyhow, now it has escalated & they've personally been to my family home (I don't own a home) where I am currently living.

Do I need to just deal with this head on & liase with them & come to some arrangement. I'd like to make the best next step with whatever experienced advice you can please offer.

Very many thanks in advance for your assistance. GREATLY appreciated.

    Needs a new thread really

This may well be a mix of 'old-style' and 'new style' student loans and this is what National Debtline says:

There are ‘old-style’ and ‘new-style’ student loans. Old-style student loans are for students who started their university course before September 1998. New-style student loans apply to students starting their course from September 1998 onwards.

Old-style student loans usually became due for repayment in the April following the conclusion of your course, and any limitation period could not begin until after you missed a payment on your loan. However, if you asked for your loan to be deferred within the six year limitation period, this would have restarted the limitation period. If you think your loan may be statute barred, contact us for advice.

The Limitation Act says that the limitation period for student loans is six years.

You could do worse than contact National Debtline for a chat.

  • Hi Fatbelly, my apologies, I missed the notification for your response. Thank you for suggesting both of those.
I will create a new thread & also contact national debtline.
    Thank you once again.
  • Hello everyone,
Thank you for the education so far!

I had a visit today, they posted the same card and then left.

The debt in question is something that's over 6 years old, and doesn't show on my credit file either. Can an unsecured debt over 6 years old still be pursued? In both cases how can I resolve them? Thank you in advance ☺

It can be pursued indefinitely, unless you put an end to things by sending them the statute barred letter.

Letter available here, (scroll up for it, as its the first letter at the top of the page) -
