Baxi boiler pilot light goes out?
Comments
-
It’s now dawned on me that the pilot only goes out when the heating has been turned on for a bit of time, if the heating is turned off the pilot stays on.
Heating was turned off from 7pm last night to 8am this morning and the pilot was still on , turned heating on this morning and 2 hours later the pilot was out.
Making me think that it has something to do with the thermoscope getting hot?
Does this point the cause in any direction?
Thank you.0 -
You need a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to look at it because even changing the thermocouple requires the fire front to be removed, you won't get any advice from an RGI on hereI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I know I'll need the gse but just wanted to know the cause and be able to pick up the part before he comes.
It's 90% the thermocouple but I now need to know if it's possible to just change that or if the entire ignition unit would need to be replaced due to unlike most boilers the Baxo Bermuda does not allow just the thermocouple being replaced,, different sources have said both.0 -

The fire front certainly didn't have to be removed when a Gas Safe Registered Engineer from British Gas replaced a thermocouple on our Bermuda and he didn't replace the entire ignition unit either - just the thermocouple. There is a removable panel clipped on underneath the fire which just pulls off to give access to the boiler controls and thermocouple. I'm staying out of this now - too many 'experts' about!0 -

It could be the thermocouple but that would normally mean the pilot wouldn't stay alight at all, if you haven't had a problem for 20 years it's about time you got it checked, look for an engineer with experience as most of the young guys/girls don't really have a clue when it comes to BBU'sI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
