Baxi boiler pilot light goes out?

I’ve been having this problem for the last few weeks, the pilot light that ignites the heating of the radiators and hot water goes out about once everyday or two. I then need to re ignite it with the two switches under the fire it’s ok for a day or so again but then goes back out.
I’ve read up on it and read about faulty thermocouples, but would that be the case since the pilot does ignite the system and stay on only for the pilot to go out maybe 6 hours later.
It first started when we had very windy weather and I thought a draft was causing it but I now know that not to be the case.
If it was a clogged up pilot light would that not stop it starting up initially like it does?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Is the boiler in a room with the door closed?
Many years ago we had a boiler that the pilot light went out during the night, we found the answer when we had a new boiler fitted, there was a birds nest in the exhaust.
We had an intruder alarm fitted that needed the doors to be closed when on so at night the kitchen door was closed and the build up of carbon monoxide extinguished the pilot light, if we had not had the alarm fitted we could have been killed in our sleep0 -
It's a back boiler behind the gas fire.
I don't really follow or understand your story.0 -
Thermocouple not connected tightly or faulty.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Mr Generous,thank you.
So they can come loose over time ? Since I've had no problem for the last 20 years.
And you think it can be a themocouple problem despite the boiler initially lighting up and staying on sometimes for long periods?0 -
I’ve been in touch with Baxi asking for the correct thermocouple to buy, they have informed me that it is part of the ignition unit # 240117BAX and not sold separately.
is it possible to just buy a thermocouple and not replace the whole ignition unit? If so what type of thermocouple would I need for a Baxi Bermuda 57/4m Thank you.0 -

It appears that Baxi are correct see

but have you checked the tightness of the nut at the end of the thermocouple where it fits into the gas valve? You may not need a new one.0 -
If the thermocouple isn't making a good firm connection to the gas valve the appliance will either not light or go out easily. As Thorganby said above make sure its tight. Sometimes you can use the copper wire as a bit of leverage against the brick just to keep it pushed tight. its not flexi copper like an appliance lead but you can easily bend it.
The heated tip of the thermocouple can also have carbon build up from the flame that needs cleaning off to improve its function. Worth a check if its an expensive part before you replace it.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

Plenty on eBay too and Screwfix have a universal one. They are readily available. A BG engineer fitted one on our Baxi Bermuda during a service. He had them on his van.0 -

That part is for the front fire, not the back boiler and is not the correct part.

Thanks so the whole ignition unit does not need to be fitted if it's only the thermoscope that needs changing?
For the above post,it is the correct unit, it that goes just behind the fire.0
