    Back on topic (ignoring non-card related issues).

    Yes, USA credit card offers trump ours. If all you care about is cashback/points then their cards win hands down.

    Regularly you can get 75k frequent flyer miles as a sign-up bonus, which when added to the everyday spend, means you can get a JFK -> LHR return trip in business quite easily.

    There are many reasons why the offers are so huge. The interchange fees are higher & the culture (encouraging people to spend freely resulting in higher profits from interest) among many things.

    Yes, those who are savvy have lots of free business class flights / hotels etc. which are harder (but possible) to get here.

    The UK is one of the (potentially second?) best countries in the world for credit card cashback / points / offers though!
