Bugaboo Cameleon buggy

I bought a Bugaboo Cameleon buggy using a Nationwide credit card for about £1000 from Mothercare in Westfield Stratford E15 for my grandson in Dec 2016.He was born in March 2017. In July 2018 when my daughter and grandson were on holiday it flipped back and pitched him onto the floor. My daughter had to buy another buggy in order to have something to put my grandson in. He suffered from a bump on the head but it could have been worse.
On her return she took the broken buggy to the store in Westfield as advised by customer services. They took the buggy and said they would repair it. My daughter said she wanted a refund and they said Head Office had to decide.
After 7 weeks Mothercare called and said she could collect the buggy. My daughter said she didnt want it and wanted a refund. They refused but offered £100 .
She contacted bugaboo direct and asked for an engineers report and was told they had replaced the part but wouldnt give her a report or tell her exactly what had gone wrong and what they had done.
I contacted Nationwide credit card who said I was not entitled to a refund as the item had been repaired.
Any advice? Is it worth trying small claims?

Do they not have two separate locks, in the angle adjuster , one on each side?
That sounds like they have both failed at the same time.
Was the buggy taken on a plane? And dropped?

Given the passage of time since purchase they are entitled to repair the product.

When my daughter was small I was amazed when we dropped her pushchair off at the gate as ours was always the only pram/ buggy that was in a travel bag. Arriving at our destination there would then be wailing parents at baggage reclaim as their Phil & Teds/ iCandy/ Bugaboo emerged on the belt with bits bent or broken off. I bought a £100 Mamas & Papas buggy for holiday travel as I would never have put her expensive travel system anywhere near an airplane hold/ baggage handlers.

If it's been repaired satisfactorily then they have met their obligations. You aren't entitled to a refund.

How much do you feel she should pay for her 15 months use prior to it spontaneously breaking and placing your grandson in mortal peril?

Seems more likely that someone wants a refund so they can move to a bigger buggy... not happy with having a repair on a two year old buggy and no mention of asking for a replacement... nope obviously must be a refund for the buggy you have had two years use out of, hmmmm.

    I think that's a bit harsh.
The op is probably very concerned about what happened to their grandchild, but they've done things in the wrong order imho, and should have communicated / been communicated with a bit more clearly.

This link may show the same issue?

They don't have a case to take to court.

Not harsh at all... consumer is not looking for an apology or reassurances, they want money - this is pretty clear from their post.

The buggy has been repaired, they have been offered £100 compensation, their credit card company was contacted and they advised that there was no legal requirement for a refund due to the repair yet they are still seeking advice about going to court.

I think that Bermonia has it spot on.

The fact they've asked for advice isn't an issue.
