Very strange thing when iPhone is plugged into the car audio?

My wife has an iPhone 6, whenever she plugs it into the car stereo via USB is starts playing the same track. But, she's deleted that track from the phone?? I've searched the phone to try to find a copy, none there and yet it keeps happening. The car's a Peugeot 208 XY and as far as I can tell it has no internal memory so…

Every time she has in past it's screwed up her iPhone. Every time we've used itunes to back it up, it's said it's backed up but when we go to restore (after an update has messed the phone up) it says there are no back ups.
She'd rather keep it working the way it is. . .
