Gers and Gintot, good news, fingers crossed the recovery is smooth for both of them.

Re:food scares, I'm of the opinion that none of us know what's round the corner and although and as long as you don't eat things to excess (except chocolate) you'll be ok. Steve was really fit - gym classes several times a week and was on no medication and yet was hit by the lymphoma out of the blue.

I managed a better sleep last night so feel a little more human. Steve is still in bed but has a blood test later, that and a Ziggy walk will be our only excitements today.

    Morning all,

Been a bit drizzly when I was out dogwalking but seems to have stopped now, hope so,I want to go to town later to get a small gift for my DB and SIL for their Ruby Wedding anniversary at the weekend.
Welcome RageinEden.Sorry to hear your finances have taken a bit of a battering recently.DH is self employed too and was stitched up by a client involving a few thousand some years ago.Had to go to small claims etc and ended up with half of what he was owed so you have my sympathy!
Gers and Gintot, hope recovery is smooth now.
Better get on and do a bit of housework etc before I go out I suppose :D Have a good day all x

    Morning all
Just having a coffee break before returning to the bathroom.
Yesterday afternoon was spent looking for a new blind and curtains for the bathroom, but they are such awkward sizes that I may have to make my own. The old ones will have to do for now though ( there's nothing wrong with them I just fancied plain instead of pattened :( )
I found some HM curry in the freezer so we will have that with rice for tea today, as I probably won't feel like much cooking after a day of painting.
Gintot I hope John had a reasonably good night and is now recovering after that long op.
Gers sending your DM healing vibes.
Speky hope you get your voice back soon.
ScarlettR hope you get your hearing sorted.
RageinEden :hello: you'll get some great support on here.
Enjoy yourselves those who are going out to lunch or coffee today. Hugs to the poorly people or anyone struggling with life.
Take care all....... must go my paintbrush awaits !! :D

Morning all. Cat lady came round with flowers and a thank you card....which was lovely, unexpected and makes me feel a bit guilty...Especially since I'd just got home, he just turned up and was sitting in the kitchen just staring at her..Will give the rest of the biscuits we were giving him to her today and some tomato seedlings when they pop up as she appears to be a gardener. And we all know that gardeners are lovely people regardless :)
Went to hospital, handed in my forms , got my blood taken, saw nurse, they decided to rearrange my radio appointment because they were re-jigging apparently, so it's now today instead.
Stopped in BM bargains, bought a bag of stone. There's been a bald patch for a while in the front garden, I'm not going to have the pillar knocked down for a while so it might as well be covered up [job for the OH though]
OHs mothers for tea, will put remains of fajita filling in fridge for tomorrow.

Hoping your mother continues on her mend Gers. Speky, phnar phnar! You had a good weeknd then! Holly, enjoy the people watching :) Scarlet, HELLO!! sorry!Let's hope the syringing helps, tinnitus is really draining...Wotcha absentees...Anyone heard from Wee Midgie at all?
    Triumphant Tuesday!!

SPEKY It was some scaremongering headlines on the news at the w/end. Recent findings say eating as little as 3 eggs a week is bad for you, leading to cardiovascular disease etc. But Dr Michael Mosley spoke up for us egg lovers apparently and said there was insufficient proof of this. If we listened to some of these experts we'd eat nothing! Everything in moderation seems the best policy!

Good morning, I tried to join in with you for a few months, it is a lovely place to hang out, but cannot sustain posting daily:(

I clipped the cutting from the weekend paper regarding the egg scare, relevant to me as I eat a lot of eggs, gluten free baking requires lots of egg to get the rise and also stopping everything being crumbly, I also eat a lot of eggy breakfasts.:D

    From the article I quote

Victoria Taylor of the British Heart Foundation said the study showed an association rather than cause and effect. She added eating healthily is all about balance.

  • Oh crikey I was looking forward to poached egg on toast for lunch.... might not now..... Well today has started off with a splitting migraine - no doubt stress - and the bumpy bruise on my blood draw site yesterday is still aching. First time ever for one of those in 53 years.... However I have got a 2 hour report to type over today and tomorrow (1 hour dictation = 3-3.5 hours typing). Not my favourite consultant to do for but plough on. Dinner tonight is veggie chilli from the freezer/pantry store. OH has asked for chick peas to be included..... should make enough for two days so that will be good. Drizzling here and shortly have to shell out £503 for the festival public notice to go in the local paper. Up £50 on last year. Total rip off as they know you have to legally do it. Really irks me. Anyway, onward with this report..... I hope everyone has a fab day!
    The game's afoot....

Hello all. Thanks for all the good wishes for John. He had an 11 hour op and when we rang last night at 9pm he was just out of surgery. Is in icu.I assume. I rang at 8.30 this morning. No one answered the phone. I haven't rung again yot as I exprct the surgeon is doing his rounds. I am hoping the hospital will.ring ma as promised. If not I will ring again this afternoon. I have no idea of the protocol of this and don't eant to be a nuisance.

Gers hope your Mum is recuperating well.

Sorry brain fog here today so I will send hugs to everyone and sign off for now

  • Afternoon folks. Just back from an enjoyable coffee meet up and lunch with my buddy. Much catching up to be done with her tripping overseas for 2 weeks. She brought me a nice pressie back - a pale blue floaty scarf and a pretty necklace in assorted pastel colours.

She is now regretting all the excessive eating she did on holiday and just had a mushroom omelette with salad for lunch, whereas I, being a glutton, had the scrumptious beer battered fish, chips and mushy peas.

After all the eating out over the last week or so I won't be eating out again now until next Tuesday so time for me to start addressing the half stone that has crept on over the winter! As from tomorrow it will be healthy eating for me! (Wish I had a fiver for every time I have said that!!)

It's been much milder here today but, sadly, not much in the way of sun. But at least we haven't had rain!

    Take care all xx

    Hi everyone
Meant to post at the weekend but didn't get round to it.. I went into town on Saturday morning to collect a prescription and a few bits and then had a lovely quiet afternoon. On Saturday night I had little grand daughter to stay for the first time! I was a bit nervous because of her oxygen but she was absolutely fine and only woke once in the night. I admit though it was a shock to my system feeding a baby at 2 in the morning! I was in bed at 9.30 on Sunday night! I've told DD I'm very happy to have her to stay but it can only be a Friday or Saturday night or when I'm on school holidays. She is 11 weeks now and becoming so much more alert and will lie for ages looking around. Up till the beginning of the week DD was keeping her in the living room with her at night and going to bed together after her 10pm feed. She's now putting her upstairs to bed about 7 and she has been settling really well....DD was just too nervous to have her out of her sight at first.
Well better go and get my tea dishes done....for some reason neither of the cats have eaten all theirs.....probably been eating mice in the fields.
Hope everyone has a good week
