Old Style Daily Tuesday 19th March 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I've only been up since 5.30am this morning, which is really good for me. I'm hoping that I will feel much better for it today.

I’m not really sure what to do today. There isn’t anything in particular that needs doing so I need to plan some enjoyable things to do.

If I feel up to it later I may go into town and have a coffee and people watching session. The forecast isn’t too bad for today so venturing out will be an option.

This summer I want to get the floor in the kitchen done if it isn’t too expensive and spent some time on the internet looking at tiles yesterday, but there is so much to choose from. I need to go and have a look in some local showrooms to get some ideas.

Gers good news that your mum has been moved to a different hospital to recuperate.

Taff there was a meeting of the group last Thursday morning but I was at the hospital. I hope to go to the one next month.

Gintot I hope that your husband had a good night and that you got some sleep as well.

Right, I need a cup of tea and something to eat.

Have a good a day everyone.

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, and to those that are poorly or looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Misty start to the day here, hoping it'll clear to give us a clear dry day, yesterday was cloudy, a bit of sun then heavy sudden downpours in the afternoon.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and eating porridge whilst on here.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans for the menfolk, I had baked fish, jacket potato and veg. Tonight will be ham, egg and chips/jacket potato - hairdresser is coming tonight so need something I can shove in the oven and leave to cook - the gammon joint will be ideal for that.

Yesterday work wasn't as busy as I'd expected, but had times where it was busy then not busy, we'll see how it goes today, the last few Tuesday's have become busy.

I can't recall who asked, but "yes" DS2 has gone off to start his new job, so I'm having to adjust to 3 people at home instead of 4. He seems settled and like he's doing ok.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Thanks for the birthday wishes, I enjoyed my day although I was at work but once the children get to hear it's your birthday they are full of good wishes and hugs.

We've a netball match after school, a home game this time which I've no doubt we'll loose but the children enjoy it anyway. Quick wizz along to get a haircut after.

Hope your OH makes a swift recovery Gintot, that's one long op.
Pleased to hear your DM has been moved Gers, is it the same hospital?
Sounds like a good weekend Specky.

Have a good Tuesday, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for the start. A mixed bags of colours in the sky this morning but no rain is forecast. Sounds like Spring is on it's way back again.

I had a lovely day in Skipton yesterday. It kept fine but there was a bit of a chilly breeze at times. A few market stall holders had set up and the town was quite busy. My only purchase was a couple of towels (in a sale of course) for the bathroom. We all had lasagne, salad and chips for lunch, accompanied by wine and much talking and very enjoyable it was.

My oldest buddy is now back from her holiday in Spain so our regular Tuesday meet up now resumes again today, A couple of coffees, followed by lunch, Is it any wonder I never lose weight!!

I am now of the opinion that I will take more notice of Dr Michael Mosley with his opinion on eggs. I have decided I will alternate - porridge one day, poached egg the next. I am too old to be worrying about food scares!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Wishing a speedy recovery for MR GINTOT and an uneventful convalescence for GERS' DM. Take care all xx

Good morning everyone - it's rainy in Glasgow though the air feels slightly warmer.

Yes, DM is in a different hospital, Gartnavel, in an orthopeadic rehab ward for the elderly so recovery starts now.:j This hospital is much nearer and doesn't involve going through the Clyde Tunnel, I hate going through tunnels under rivers.

Today I'm planning on driving home to collect my mail and other bits and pieces. Actually it's amazing how little I need from home which begs the question - why do I have it all?

Thought to all - Gintot, hope your DH is doing well.

    Happy Tuesday.

Good morning, and it seems to be a calm grey morning, don't know about the temp.

    Happy birthday for yesterday Camelot.

Gintot, glad Mr G has got the op over with - hope he makes a good recovery, you look after yourself as well

Gers, pleased to hear that Mum has moved, and it'll be a better journey for you. Interesting when you say, how little we actually need - that applies to all of us I guess.

TA, you had a good day yesterday - don't worry about weight, we need a bit of covering up here in the North!! I was a bit dismayed as well about the eggs - just when you think something is healthy, they say it's not.

Holly tile hunting sounds good, I love anything new for the house

SO, hope you and Mr SO are all right.

We are decorating our living room, nothing drastic, just a coat of paint and some new curtains.
I'm totally deaf at the moment. Last week I went to see the nurse at the doctors' because I thought I wasn't hearing properly, despite two hearing aids. Oh yes, she says, there's a build up of hardened wax, put oil in your ears twice a day, come back next week for
    syringing.
Ok, so I started this regime, and it's made me almost totally deaf, hearing aids don't help, and I've got horrendous tinnitus.
I'll be so pleased to go back tomorrow for syringing. I'm not going out to my usual activities because I can't have a conversation, without the other person standing right next to me. shouting. Not ideal!! Whinge over.

    Welcome to our new posters.

Thinking of the sad and poorly people.
    Take care folks

Snoozer, I'm sorry I missed your birthday the other day, but hope it was a good one!!

As someone said, there are loads of we Pisceans on here.
  • Good morning everyone,

I feel a bit more human today compared to yesterday, although I've still only got half my voice back. Such was my own self sympathy yesterday that I got myself a KFC as medicine. It helped despite not being very MSE.

Today I expect a long day in work. I travel to London then Basel tomorrow and Thursday and so I need to get my proverbial ducks in a row before I leave today.

House is looking a bit more normal now and in fact, the painters should be arriving any time now to re-paint the corner of my spare room which had some damp in it. Like before, my landlord is letting them in whilst I'm at work.

Still stuck on 8 NSD's although today should be 9.

TA - Sorry, I've missed that. What's the Doc saying about eggs?
Gers - My gran was in a different part of Gartnavel and received excellent treatment. I hope the same applies your DM.
  • SPEKY It was some scaremongering headlines on the news at the w/end. Recent findings say eating as little as 3 eggs a week is bad for you, leading to cardiovascular disease etc. But Dr Michael Mosley spoke up for us egg lovers apparently and said there was insufficient proof of this. If we listened to some of these experts we'd eat nothing! Everything in moderation seems the best policy!
