CurrencyFair is another reputable broker, I have used them for a few years with no problems, good exchange rates and a flat fee transfer cost of £2.50The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

My family and i are travelling to Canada in the summer- my cousin who lives over there has purchased rodeo tickets for us- i need to transfer her the money to pay for them and am confused by all the information out there about transferring money (i ignorantly thought it would be straightforward!)
Can anyone recommend the best way- there seems to be many companies offering transfers- how do i know which ones are not dodgy? Can i just send money from my bank?
It not a huge amount that needs to be transferred...help??
Hi skintnomore
I can't say I have any experience of transferring money to Canada but I have done so to the USA.
I recommend that you call into your bank branch. For the piece of mind, knowing that your money is transferred safely and securely, you may decide that it's worth the fee.
In my experience, although I tried to do the money transfer online from my bank account to the USA account..........it wouldn't let me.
For a USA transfer it was quite complicated, I need to know:
The SWIFT code
Routing Number
Account Number
Full address of the bank branch
My bank branch told me I had to pay their fee for making the bank transfer payment. I kicked up a fuss, telling them that I was forced into asking them to do it because it was impossible to do it myself online............and they cancelled the fee.
So..........in your shoes, I would call into my bank branch (with all the information) and get them to do it.
Enjoy your trip to Canada.
Kind regards

I work for a bank, trust me we will take your eyes out on the rate, plus we will charge you and then there will be charges at the other end. Use Transferwise, I doSave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000

Using a bank is likely to be very expensive. There will be a fee of 10 to 20 Pounds from your bank, a poor exchange rate and possible fees from the receiving bank or intermediate banks. For a smallish payment the fees are likely to be more significant than the exchange rate.0

I used my pre paid Revo;ut card to send money to an Indian shack owner and to pay for accomodation in Rupees. No charge for this and got a decent rate. Just needed the IBAN number / swift code and the usual account number and sort code.0

Thank you: that is worth knowing. My usual money-transfer service does not work for India. Do you know if Revolut also works for Cuba?0
