Old Style Daily Monday 18th March 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Today is washing day. I think that there is at least two loads, provided none of it needs ironing I don’t mind though.

I want to have a bit of a dust through and will probably have a quick vacuum as well. I think that will be enough housework for one day.

I was meant to meet a friend in a different town for lunch today but she is unable to make it so I’m not sure what I will get up to later.

The freezer inventory was pretty accurate, which is unusual for me. I nearly froze to death doing it though. The combination of cold outside and handling frozen food isn’t one that I enjoyed :(.

Gers I hope that your mum starts to improve soon, and please take care of yourself as well.

TA I’m so pleased the girls did well. I would love to have been able to do what they do, but I’m another one with two left feet.

Dumpling I hope that the care coordinator can arrange some extra support for Lee.

Taff at least you now know that the cat has a home. I hope that you managed to spend some time admiring the pots in the garden and didn’t move too much stuff from the greenhouse to the garden.

I hope that the pain killers worked for Nelski, Nanny and Organza_Lace and you are all feeling much better today.

Hope all goes well today Gindtotmelinda.

Have a good a day everyone.

Good morning, I'm up but cold so this will be a quick post and I'll be back later.

    Thinking of mr gintot today.

OL I meant to tell you that I have the same problem with blood being taken. I dread it because unless the vampirism nurse is extra skilful, I end up black and blue from wrist to elbow.

    See you all later

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, and those who are poorly or looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, light cloud and air feels cold, but forecast is for a dry day with sunshine, we'll see.

DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and eating brekkie whilst on here. DS2 seems to be settled and doing ok.

Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, peas, swede, yorkshires and gravy. Some LO's but not much, trying to cut down on the amount I'm prepping and cooking.

Back to work today - will probably starting being busy from today - we'll see.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Hope all goes well today Gintot.
Hugs to you Gers, hope your DM turns a corner today.

I had a lovely day yesterday, DD drove to DS1s which made such a difference to the day, had a beautiful lunch with cake after - what's not to like! The DGC were a joy as usual, a day full of laughter and sunshine.

Back to the grind today, I've already given the bedside cabinet its final coat of white, will tackle the top later and start on the chest of drawers. Certainly not a quick job but quite satisfying all the same.

All our snow has gone thank goodness, looks like another decent day. Have a good Monday, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for the early start. I hope you managed to get back to sleep again for a while.

The sky is glowing on the horizon but is that a good or bad sign? The forecast says light rain so I am expecting the golden glow to disappear.

It's our postponed Skipton on the bus day today. Whatever the weather decides to do it's got to be better than last Wednesday's gales and torrential rain when we were forced to cancel our little trip. There are three of us today so full strength for our little outing, incorporating the usual lunch, bottle of wine and much chatting. It's usually a quiet market on a Monday as they don't find it's worth the effort of setting up after the weekend.

So a no cooking day for me today. I will leave a pot of soup out to defrost and that with a ham salad wrap will do me tonight. Talking of defrosting, I admire your efforts HOLLY. My big upright in the garage has got back into it's usual stuff-shoved-anywhere state and my inventory has gone to pot - a job for the next milder day I think!

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried or lonely. Thoughts are with MR GINTOT for his op and I hope GERS' mum is feeling a bit brighter. Take care all xx

    Good morning folks.

My 'day of rest' was refreshing. In the morning DM sent me a little list of things she wanted brought in so I sorted that out. I had to buy a couple of items so I decided I'd drive the friend to the hospital and drop him off.

The second friend who visited seems to have turned DM's low spirits into a more positive view. He is a consultant in medicine for the elderly in a neighbouring county and so was able to answer all her questions, soothe her fears and generally give tons of reassurance about her future. I hope this frame of mind remains.

    So, I had a quiet'ish day. I slept a lot!

Nelski - I used taxis during the worst of the bad weather but resent paying £15.00 for the drivers to find inventive ways to lengthen the journey! I can drive there though finding a parking space is a problem, using the bus is free and direct, just blooming freezing last week.

Gintot - I'll be thinking of you OH today.

TA - I hope you have a fab time in Skipton.

Happy Monday to everyone. Thanks for all your good wishes.

Good morning, it's fine and sunny here, but cold. Probably warm up a bit later on.

I haven't read back yet over the last 2 days.

    Holly, don't overdo it.

TA, enjoy your day, hope all goes well/

Gintot. hope Mr G will be ok today.

Nanny, you were asking if I used the slow cooker much in the caravan - I do, not every day of course. It's only a 1.5 litre one, and I store it under 1 of the seats. As we know, space is at a premium, but it does come in handy. It's worth having in the van, even in the summer a beef casserole can be comforting, or a curry. Mind, I tend to go easy on "smelly" foods in the caravan, but it's less odoriferous in the slow, than in a saucepan.

Thinking of the sad and poorly, Gers Mum, Mr G, Poppy, and others

    Take care folks

Morning all. John went off to the hospital in good spirits and he had to be there for 7am. I am waiting for Simon (DS) to come back from driving his Dad there.

Later I am going to DD's for the day. She is taking me out to lunch and I am persevering with teaching her to knit. Later sne us cooking a meal for us. We will wait for news from the hospital but it will bea long day.

Thank you all for your good wishes.

Gers I am pleased to hear that Mum is in better spirits
