American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card

Hello,

I have applied for the card above for two reasons.

- Cashback
- 2 X airport lounge access

I have applied today and am travelling in a fortnight. What is the quickest way to get the airport lounge membership organised?

At the end of the application it says the AMEX card will take 10 days!

Thanks

  • I received my Amex card in about 4 days and then the lounge card came a week or so later.

Also you don’t get Cashback with this card you get reward points which is a whole other ballgame

  • No it will arrive automatically as AmEx pass your details on to them to send the pass

Just be aware. The "lounges" are pay for use lounges.

To be honest I find the kerb outside the airport a nicer place to spend some time.

You get 2 free entry passes with Amex Gold and “infinite” with the Platinum Charge Card.

I don't think beany_bot was meaning that the OP would have to pay, but that in general these sort of lounge passes are only valid in "pay to use" lounges, which are invariably of a far lower standard than airlines own lounges (for which you need either airline status or to be travelling in business/first).

    Care to expand on that?

!!! - I am planning ahead. Once the airport lounge stuff arrives (hopefully in a week) is there anything I need to do? Do i need to book the lounge?
  • No just turn up with the pass.

The point of the pass is you don’t book it and you turn up and present the card.

However if they are full they can turn you away
