Gas usage

Your gas meter does not (like an electric) read directly in kwh - you have to do a conversion.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
kwH
Using @gsmlnx quick cal guide you used 11400 kwH July - March
@ 3.99 per kwH = £454.86 + Daily SC + VAT0 -
If your meter is metric, those readings don't look that unusual. You might as well use 11.2 to convert the difference between readings to kWh, as there is one factor (the calorific value, or CV) that can change slightly between bills. It will only affect the places after the decimal point, and typically only makes a difference of a few pence to a monthly bill, but does mean it can be difficult to calculate the cost down to the penny....
Or a quick guide -
1 imperial unit = 31.6586 kWh
1 metric unit = 11.1868 kWh
...
As for your rates quoted, do they include VAT? If not, calculate your usage as the number of days covered times the standing charge plus the kWh used times the rate, then add 5% VAT. That is how the suppliers calculate it. If the rates quoted include VAT, then obviously you don't add it again at the end, but the total can be out by just a penny or two.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. £107 a month for both gas and electric, but it’s all gone a bit funny since spark went into administration. Technically my account was closed in november and a new one set up from then0

@lfh1
Glad you managed to get your head around things now with the help offered above.
Given you now know your usage you may want to consider comparing different gas suppliers (assuming your current provider has sorted out the move from Spark and you don't have any exits fees).
You don't need to use the same supplier for both electricity and gas. It can work out cheaper to use 2 suppliers, it certainly does for me.
3.99p per kWh is quite high. As an example, a 2 year fix on gas from Zog has the following prices (taken from the Cheap Energy Club for the Eastern region)
Unit rate = 3.234p per kWh
Standing charge = 15.750p per day0
