Broken shoes

Hey guys,

Bought a cheap pair of shoes a couple of months ago (converse rip offs so made of fabric rather than leather) They ripped down the side when I was putting them on the other day.

I dont have a recipt but the name of the shop i bought them in is written on the insole.

Is the store obligated to exchange them? Id expect a pair of shoes to last longer than 2 months.

Technically they require proof that you have purchased them from their shop, which you havent got.You only have proof that the shoes were made by them, which isnt the same thing, and also no proof of how long ago you bought them. Shoe shops dont like giving anything back that they dont have to. Speak nicely to the Manager-but shoes are a notoriously diificult to prove faulty .

Exactly the reason I always buy genuine converse, last forever (I have a pair about 9 years old now!) chuck em in the washing machine and they are as good as new.

Lol i know that did occur to me as I was typing the post!

The shop is Lime in Nottingham - and being as they are the only retailer of Lime clothing isnt the fact the shoes say Lime on the insole in big letters proof that I bought them at that shop? The shop itself has only been open for a few months too so that would be proof of the timeframe I couldve purchased the shoes within.

Lime seems to be some weird Next related cheap brand - if you go to the Next Clearance shop in Lakeside probably about 50% of it is full-price Lime stuff now (this has occurred over the last 6-12 months), making it much harder to bag a bargain

The point was that the price and quality (i.e. brand) does have an influence on how long you can reasonably expect it to last. So 2 months may or may not be entirely unreasonable - there isn't just a defined timeframe that all shoes should last for.

If you are talking about Lime at the Market Square it has been open a lot longer than a few months ...

Also, you could have bought them off ebay/ at a market?

How much did they cost? x

as i understand it, if they are faulty you don't need a recipt.
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

You don't need a receipt, but you do need proof of purchase.

Proof of purchase doesnt mean proof that the shop sells them-it means proof that You bought them from the shop, new,and nowhere else.

    This is what i thought.

They only cost £3 reduced from like £10 i think. Id just rather exchange them than spend a tenner though ;)
