Item Not Delivered

  • Always ask for a case to be opened. Ebay can then track buyers who open a lot of cases. If sellers just refund when a buyer messages, then if they are trying it on they can keep doing it.

Any buyer who makes an excuse for not opening a case "im too busy/i cant find that option/can't you just refund..." is trying it on and knows that if they open too many cases they will get ebay on their back.

    Hi all,

Thanks so much for the replies.

I checked the buyers account and looked at feedback he left and was left for him, nothing to suggest he is a regular at claiming item not received etc.

Since I told him to open a case, he has gone all quiet. Hmmm. I will wait and see what happens.

From my experience, even when a letter has been damaged (torn, ripped etc), RM normally put on that plastic covering which says "sorry we damaged your item", so I am just a bit surprised they had delivered a bubble wrapped envelope which was completely empty.

I always tend to put sellotape on the end of the envelope but thanks for the tip about the staples. I will do that from now on.

Thanks again everyone for your help in this matter.

Rather than sellotape (which can come off and get entangled in the sorting machines) buy a roll of brown packaging tape, this, for example . It’s stickier and far less likely to come off or tear.

For the record, sellers can only leave positive feedback for buyers so it is unlikely there would be any indication from his feedback as a buyer, that he is a regular at trying it on.

When someone has said item never received or was damaged, I will leave positive feedback (or have done) but made it clear I am sorry that the item was never delivered or was claimed damaged - SO SORRY RM DIDN'T DELIVER YOUR ITEM, FULL REFUND GIVEN WITH MY APOLOGIES, so others can see it.

I had someone else claim off me a few years ago, they sent back a used empty bottle - smelt of cooking and had long hair all over it, ewe! eBay sided with the buyer because she had returned an item, until I did my research and looked through all their feedback and contacted another seller who had sold the same item as me and the buyer claimed the same issue. We both eventually got our money back. It was a long drawn out process.

Buyer can open a case as of today, surprised he has not opened one yet. I've not had any messages off him since my last contact.

I will keep you all updated.
