Flat converted mill. Any advise?

That is not a very nice area.
It is being sold as a two bed but it is actually a one bed. Someone has put a bed into the living room.
Those doors in the kitchen are actually there to make a kitchen diner and a seperate living room. It might have been let like this to get more rent? Because it is so small if you run the washing machine while you are watching the telly you will hear it and the fridge. If you want to watch the telly in peace you close the doors. If it was designed to be a bedroom you wouldn't need frosted glass in those divider doors because getting up in the night to make a cupper or raid the fridge for a snack you would put the light on. Just my theory anyway.
That is one very expensive 1 bed flat in a non prime area. Good luck to the person who has bought it.0 -
Hello,
Can I ask you your honest opinion about this flat in a converted mill in Manchester?

Service charges £1,311pa and £250pa for ground rent. 125 year lease length with 123 years remaining. Is the lenght a bit short?
Sorry, I am very lost!!! I love this type of flats but I do not know to what extend they are functional. Plus it just has two windows!
Thank you!

I wouldn't consider a flat, I certainly wouldn't consider a flat in a listed building.
What do you get for the service charge? What could it rise by? Is it going to double next year for example? They always just mention what it is now, the potential rises are hidden in small print.
My friend had a flat in a converted mill, the service charge eventually rose to about £5k and they always seemed to want more money to do things to do work on the building.0 -

I'm calling two beds. The frosted glass is there cos there's absolutely no natural light in the lounge/kitchen. That space is too big to be just dining space in a flat that size.
Personally I would prefer it as you said, with the lounge behind the doors, and to make a lovely big kitchen diner with loads of cupboards and stuff, but that sort of market in that flat will be for those eating out or eating quickly, tiny table, and open plan living space.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -

Whatever it is it is a such a good design that we can't tell what it is supposed to be.:rotfl:0 -
Sold STC, so somebody likes it!
I agree that the living room will be dark and depressing. It’s not in a great location either, it’s trying to be a city centre trendy conversion but it isn’t in the city centre.0 -
I'd need to be sentenced by a court to live in that.0

Thank you so much to everybody who helped me and gave me some advise with this! I went to view it and you were totally right, I did not like it very much and it was not in a very good location. I will view more properties!
Thank you!!0
