Hello,
Can I ask you your honest opinion about this flat in a converted mill in Manchester?
rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-78060713.html[/url]
Service charges £1,311pa and £250pa for ground rent. 125 year lease length with 123 years remaining. Is the lenght a bit short?
Sorry, I am very lost!!! I love this type of flats but I do not know to what extend they are functional. Plus it just has two windows!
Thank you!

I think it's hideous. There is no lounge. There's a windowless kitchen with space for lounge furniture. There are no period or any other features in the flat itself. Bland bland bland bland bland. I suppose it might be nice if you like spending your evenings in a windowless kitchen watching TV with the extractor fan in the middle of the ceiling masquerading as ventilation.
At least in a prison cell you'd get a window.
For £15k less you could get

And for £5k more you can get a 4-bedroom house

Hard to give an opinion as people's tastes vary wildly.
Will point out the things I don't like:
- No window in kitchen/lounge/diner. That's why there's frosted glass between that and the bedroom.
- The bedroom being off the lounge - especially with frosted glass inbetween!
- The kitchen being in the lounge. I don't like that layout.
- Not much storage/cupboard space in the kitchen
- It's showing as under offer!
Lease length is good.
Would I buy it? No. Would someone else? Yes.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Probably no longer satanic, but certainly dark.0

The lack of light to the living areas would put me off straight away.0

It'll save you money on a TV licence at least, with the sofas positioned to watch the occupants of the master bedroom instead.0

It does feel a little 'bunker-like', looking at those photos.
You would save money on not needing a window cleaner too!0 -
Looks to be on top floor. No mention of a lift. Sod that...
If there are lifts (which I very much doubt), that might not be good for service charges - or certainly future service charges.
As for the window cleaning - that might well be lumped in with service charges so prob not even a saving there LOL.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
I rented a place like that for a few years a while back. I chose it because it was in a central location and I liked the period features and character. At the time, I didn't think that the lack of natural light would bother me.
It really really bothered me in the end. I found it a bit claustrophobic.
I also found that that type of building attracted a certain type of tenant and homeowner... one that was very noisy. As there were wooden floors everywhere the sound reverberated around and I would wake up several times per night0 -
from the outside I would love to live in one, from the inside it bears no relation to the historic building it is and therefore I don't see the point of buying it I would rather have a houseAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

Hi
As others have said its a personal taste when it comes to properties but heres my thoughts.
Being as its a old converted building thats listed i would really take the service charge with a piece of salt. This charge could soon get out of hand with regards to the maintenance.
Again as pointed out if there is a lift that again can be high maintenance if its proves unreliable
I wouldnt be interested in buying it but i am sure others would0
