Circuit Laundry (Uni accomodation laundry systems)

Can you not jus refuse to pay for the service and go to a laundrette?0

Any area designated for communal use by students is likely to become gross. Unless you've seen anything to suggest otherwise, it's highly likely that the students are expected to keep the area clean and tidy. When you go to use a machine, clean it before you put your clothing in. Or use a different laundrette.
If you feel it's truly outrageous, contact the student's union. They may be able to tell you who should be responsible for the cleaning, or at least who to ask. Beware that the answer may well be that the students should be cleaning it themselves.Well informed on the subjects of sofas and wood furniture, and well opinionated on everything else :rotfl:0 -
Hi
I am currently in student accomodation, and have to pay for expensive "managed laundry" systems to wash my cloths.
You repeatedly mention “cloths”.... reminds me of this....

Anyway, if you don’t like it get your own washing machine, pay somebody else to do it for you or go to a laundrette. Simple really.0 -
Oh believe me, as soon as my "licence" ends, I won't be staying where I am. It is private accomodation booked via the uni that charges a lot for not a lot in many ways. Only here because of practicalities at the time.
For now, well, the nearest launderette isn't particularly close, so I will have to clean it. If I had a sensible option for getting it done elsewhere, i'd do. Thing is, I am going to have to spend a little bit of time cleaning to a state where it is clean, it doesn't mean the people who use it before (and after me), will do the same, in other words, as if I am expected to take responsibility for other users. I don't feel as if I should need to do that.
What !!!!es me off, is they advertise a launderette, the charge £2-3 per wash for a service that doesn't reliably do the job.
I feel if the company charges that much PER WASH, the machines should be in a state to do
the job properly. If it was any other company, that didn't have a load of people captive, they wouldn't be able to get away with such a shoddy service. Yes, I have used launderettes elsewhere before, just thought i'd add that in as well.
Washing elsewhere isn't a practical option.
One other thing, in reference to some of the earlier comments, it is probably worth pointing not all students are teenagers who are living away from parents for the first time, I have sorting my stuff, including my own washing for ten years. So kindly, it'd much appreciated if people would leave of the patronising comments.0 -

So you are expecting me to purchase this, pay for an empty wash, then pay again for my actual wash for a washing machine that is not mine and will subsequently be used by probably hundreds of others before I use it again, if I get to use the same machine next time?0 -
I thought that seemed very cheap, but I don't use launderettes so I can't be sure.0

I'm expecting you to do nothing but complain.
Have you actually thanked ANY Posters?0 -
You are not held ‘captive’ you are more than welcome NOT to use their service... this is your only recourse.0

Yes, thanked the one person who decided to steer away from been downright patronising.
Only one person I regard in this thread as having actually made a serious attempt to be helpful.0 -

As already has been said, unless everyone who uses the machine has the same standards of cleanliness as yourself, then you will find things in a communal area that grosses you out.
What you are suggesting is that the uni should employ someone to ensure that everytime the machine is used it is left in a clean state for the next person - well if that happens I can ensure you that the cost will dramatically increase.0
