Circuit Laundry (Uni accomodation laundry systems)

Hi
I am currently in student accomodation, and have to pay for expensive "managed laundry" systems to wash my cloths.

Just one thing, the washing machines are not regularly cleaned to a satisfactory standard. This means our cloths cannot be reliably washed properly.

I am getting a little fed up as I just found myself putting a wash back in as my cloths had aquired a substantial amount of new stains from the area around the washer door....

Also, after periods of reduced use, the machines often end smelling awful, the ones we have to wash our clothes in!

Any thoughts, any students here (or parents of wanting to find out if their kids at uni have) experienced the same problem?

I think this unacceptable and should be made a bit of a deal of.

Thanks,
Jamie

Wipe the doors round before you wash your clothes?

Does the contract specifically include regular cleaning of the washing machines...

    Irrelevant if it does.

We are paying per wash to have our clothes cleaned, not made dirtier. If the machines are not maintained to a satisfactory standard for that, then that means we do not get the service we pay for.

I don't expect to have to do the maintenance tasks to ensure I get that service, when we do not have a contract expecting us to maintain them to the standard to provide the service we pay for.

As I say, we pay for each wash specifically.
  • It also worth pointing, it is a laundry room for a site with 2500 people on it.

It’s not irrelevant at all, but if you know so much why are you even asking.

If people are putting clothes in so filthy they leave marks on the seal as such to stain further washes then that’s on those people.

You are paying for the machines, for them to be in mechanical working order, the water, the electricity.
You are not paying for your mum to come and wipe the seals round after you filthy lot...

You could always go off-site and use a local community laundrette.

What answer do you want to hear? Other than ''yes, I used a launderette which didn't wash my clothes properly so I went to a different launderette'', I'm not sure what else you want from this.

Surprised students even know or wash their clothes? Just take them back to Mummy.

Can not be bothered to wipe the doors? Wear cloths?

If you do not like them then you simply do not use them... there is no contractual agreement and you are free to use an alternative method.

And I would have thought students would know about Wilko, considering they're always buying the stocks of the decent A4 notebooks from ours  :D

On a serious note, I second the Dr Beckmann range recommendation - we use their stuff with our laundry and to clean our washing machine and it does make a difference.
