This is what happens when you only allow article comments via Facebook, Zuckerberg doesn't give a duck's bottom about spammers.

Unfortunately, neither does MSE it seems. I remember a thread on the site feedback about a month or two ago about this very issue that received short shrift /passing the buck from the powers that be here at MSE. I'll see if I can find it...

    Here goes..

Maybe the powers that be/were were getting demob happy at the time? Hopefully when a new Forum Team Manager is appointed, we may start to get some more constructive answers/action. He can only hope. :)

It's same people behind Brilliant Energy as is behind Euston Energy, and come to that URE Energy who had recently been warned of a forthcoming £200k+ bill from Ofgem..

    Very interesting.

That link suggesting a proposed order was dated 13th February 2019, and would be consulted on for 21 days before any action

This was in relation to the £200k+ actually owed since 1st September 2018.

In November 2018, Ofgem gave them another chance to deliver all outstanding payments through monthly instalments by 31 March 2019.

As no payment seems to have been received, the final order was subsequently issued on Friday 8th March 2019 demanding payment of £209,013.78 by no later than 5pm on 31st March 2019.

Monday 11th March 2019, Brilliant Energy declares it is ceasing to trade.

As always the advice is to read your meters (take photos if possible) make sure you've saved all your bills and download any that you haven't before the website gets shut down.

Being prepared with all your evidence of meter readings, bills and payments is the easiest way to sort out any future problems.

And last of all - save them for at least a couple of years, preferably six just to cover yourself for the eventuality of some debt collecting agency coming out of the woodwork in the future trying to claim more money from you.

Virtually every company that's gone bust (and even some who haven't) seem to have tried it on with some customers.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

So it sounds like you were actually supplied by Brilliant Energy
I'm starting to think that you're correct, though Brilliant Energy isn't mentioned in any of the correspondence I've received from Northumbria, only Euston Energy is mentioned. Sigh. Must be a breach of OFGEM rules not to tell a customer who is actually supplying their energy? I was with Ebico previously who use white label suppliers and they always made it clear who the actual supplier was.

Reading the other thread linked to by Full Force above, if you go to post#26 of that thread, wavelets appears to be quoting a term and condition that does mention the Brilliant Energy partnership ;)

You may be right about a breach of Ofgem regulations, but I guess Ofgem (or anyone else) won't care much now Brilliant energy has gone bust.

There's now a message on the Northumbria Energy website front page
Customers who signed up with Northumbria Energy prior to 15 March were signed up through a white label arrangement whereby, Northumbria Energy were using the industry identity of Brilliant Energy. Brilliant Energy have now ceased trading and all customers of Brilliant Energy, including those being supplied under the Northumbria while label arrangement, are now in the process of being transferred to a new supplier, SSE.
For all customers of Northumbria Energy, we would recommend that you take a meter reading and do not switch to another supplier until the switch to SSE has been completed. If you have a credit balance it will be protected, and you will be contacted by your new supplier in due course.
Customers can find support and advice on the Ofgem website. Or alternatively if they need additional support they can call Citizens Advice on 03454 04 05 06 or email them via webform, or get in touch through Ofgem’s facebook or twitter feed @ofgem
Northumbria Energy has not ceased trading and if you are interested in being supplied with your energy by us you can complete the online enrolment form on our website and we will be in touch.

I can offer anyone a good deal on bargepoles if needed :D

Perhaps I'm being impatient, but has anyone who was transferred received account details from SSE yet?

Keen to switch away from the standard tariff ASAP but stuck until my account is setup...

There appears to have been an update on the URE situation by Ofgem.

URE have failed to pay the RO bill, and on 01 May, Ofgem issued final notice that the money must be paid within 3 months. (in part thanks to SSE putting the boot in)
The notice further explained that if this failure is not rectified to the satisfaction of the Authority within three months of URE receiving the notice, the Authority may at any time revoke URE’s Electricity Supply Licence subject to giving no less than 30 days’ notice.
