How many of the Press will have tried to open a Starling account when they already had a Raisin one, managed by Starling? How many of the Press did actually do any more than go by the Press Releases of Starling and Raisin? The press seems to have a slightly different view.
So? How does this invalidate the fact that Starling can't, for purely technical reasons, give you a current account if they are already hosting your Raisin account? That seems quite clear the Raisin offering is now running on Starling’s platform and is essentially a white label account.
Well, precisely. Its totally dreadful application design. Add a couple of Executives with global expansion dreams, an overzealous Marketing department, and a pretty useless Customer Services department into the mix, and you have the recipe for a really nice mess. Note that I am not sure that it's only the phone number that's the problem - I am going by what I was told by Starling. After several weeks, I am still waiting for them to get back to me when they fixed the issue, as they promised they will.Surely any bank offering white-labelled services should be expected not to have the account holder's mobile phone number configured as a unique key across all variants of the platform?!
There's obviously still some goodness in the application design that often dates back to the early 1970sImagine the chaos if, say, Lloyds and Halifax had technical constraints that effectively precluded customers from holding accounts with both....

Yes you'd think that while the platform was the same, the actual customer data would be completely separate.
I've actually given up on Starling now after a terrible customer service experience (took them almost two months to change my address!). I think the platform needs a bit of development frankly.0 -
That's a good point. I wonder whether they are violating GDPR? Although I have most probably given Raisin permission at some stage in the process to share my data with Starling.Yes you'd think that while the platform was the same, the actual customer data would be completely separate.0
