Am I liable for this defect found after exchange?

Apologies, I know this is really bad form, but it looks like this will go to solicitors, so prefer not to leave this here as it is very specific.

    Could they prove you did this after exchange/it wasn't like they before? I'm guessing they can't but just asking.

    I think it is going to depend on whether this is a long term issue or a short one. For example a burst pipe yesterday as opposed to a burst pipe outside pumping water into the foundations over several months and ongoing when the survey should have been done.

    It not always cut and dry.

    There are imaginable scenarios where you are responceable, and some where you are not....

    The cause can give an insight.

    So presumably it’s come from either and underfloor pipe, or damp by capillary action?

    What are they trying to assert you have done wrong?
