I find it is irresponsible of the press to keep calling these fines! It wouldn't be so bad if they used "fines" but surely the press need to do a bit of research and call them speculative invoices.
  • I find it is irresponsible smart threatening people , to the point of staff asking for transfers

tickets or "fines" , this is outrageous " “The worst time was just before Christmas, when I had a letter saying I had five days to pay £2,800 in standing fines, otherwise I’d face court action."

There were a few stupid comments as usual following the article, but I thought the best suggestion was to try and take the scammers to court for bullying in the criminal courts.
Every medical facility you go to these days has a sign saying that abuse of staff will not be tolerated, and here we have a clear case of abuse against staff.

Why do the NHS take on scammers ???????

    Who pays the ferryman ???

Doubt the BPA are interested, not when they make money from scammers

Smart Parking did not respond to requests for a comment.
Well blow me down with a feather. How unusual.

Usual mixed bag of (many badly informed) comments 'If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime'; 'It would do the fatties good to walk to work'; 'The DVLA has no legal right to pass on anyone's data to a PPC' .. dum, dum, dum, dum, dum!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

"Despite being the principle tenant for over 40 years, this system was introduced without our agreement or consultation to address problems that simply did not exist.

“The erroneous and inflexible administration of the parking system has resulted in over 100 fines being incorrectly issued to over 30 members of practice staff, not to mention patients.

“This figure continues to rise on a weekly basis. This has caused unnecessary stress and upset to patients trying to access much needed medical care and staff trying to provide valuable NHS services to the community.

Terrible, and against the NHS Parking Principles, Government policy.

''...problems that simply did not exist'' sums up parking firms' protection racket.

All it needs is to put an end to this nonsense is for someone to shin up the ANPR camera pole with a plastic carrier bag & some gaffer tape.

    I've often thought exactly that.

Or switch off the power to the camera.

Easiest answer though, is if EVERYONE covered their numberplates, every time.
