    It's very simple... The warranty provider are selling these to make a profit.

    That's a profit from what's left of the premiums once they've covered their marketing costs, staff costs, taxes, admin costs, office costs... Oh, yes. And the claims they pay out.

    So you are betting your car will be considerably less reliable and more expensive than the average - because that's the only time it'll be worth you buying the warranty.

    The rest of the Ts & Cs are just fine detail - this is all a basic truism that applies to EVERY aftermarket warranty.
