I'm thinking of purchasing a warranty to cover repair cost for my car, I spoke with them today and asked some questions, they said warranty covers wear and tear of parts, most things are covered 10.00 excess only, no fuss has anyone had any recent experience in making a claim with them please?

Not sure what you mean most things are covered, that's not how it reads to me....
"What we don't cover
Items you might replace during routine service such as tyres, brake pads, oil filters/fluid changes, bulbs, etc.
The first £10 of every claim
Pre-existing faults
Consequential damage
Electric hoods
There is a betterment contribution for cars over 60,000 miles but not related to the age.
Timing belts, but only if they haven't been changed in line with the manufacturers schedule
Batteries, but we do cover the distributor
Clutch parts are covered, but not if they're burnt or worn out.
Diesel particulate filter (DPF), as damage is generally caused by the way the car is driven
Modifications
Damage to paintwork and glass
Claims if you haven't serviced your car correctly during cover
Grey imports, taxi, courier etc.
Vehicles over 12 years old (cover stops when the vehicle reaches 12 years old)
Vehicles over 150,000 miles (cover stops when the vehicle reaches 150,000 miles)
Vehicles with less than 28 days valid MOT at time of policy purchase
Faults caused by overheating, but we do cover the parts that may cause it like the water pump and radiator
If cause of a failure isn't apparent diagnostics, but they are included if listed in the ICME mechanical repair times. This is the industry standard comprehensive data providing vehicle manufacturers' recommended repair times."0 -
Starts badly and all downhill? To see if you can claim call our 0871 numberPay toward the cost of repairs even when an insured part fails as a result of "Wear & Tear"
Don't forget to add the cost of a complete service which you are required to get within 21 days of purchasing ..You are covered from day 1*
Dont you love those little stars hiding away up there... Covered from day 1 except for ECU, Electrical or AC and with a 50% excess on items you are covered for?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I understand some vital com0onents are not covered, but things like water pump radiator gearbox turbo is covered right? Also they stated service not required?0

Also 1 thing I don't understand, let's say I have a problem with the car but obviously I don't mention it when taking out warranty and then make a claim that somethings needs repairing how would they know if the problem was a pre-existing one or not?0

Look! these schemes are often if not always, never worth it, the monthly premium you pay, you may as well save it up (just in case you need to spend on repairs).
The time you do need to claim, you pay for the repair and claim the money back (if they are going to honour the claim) it wasn't covered remember?0 -

Proof of service history is not required. Not the same thing.
Terms and conditions, you did read those didn't you? States it needs servicing within 30 days of purchase.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

They don't which maybe why they decline some claims. But you already voided the policy by not getting it serviced within 30 days of purchase so they wont payout anyway.
Say the waterpump leaks, thats a maintenance issue, its not failed its just leaking. Wear and tear oh yes that maybe covered but requires a contribution from you. Lets call it £200 for friends.
Local garage only want £150 for the entire job, do you want to close the claim then?
If the waterpump did fail and is covered then the cambelt and tensioners wont be. So your going to be putting your hand in your pocket for those parts anyway.
How do they know is not already worn out? Easy, they assume it was and its just wear and tear so you end up paying for it anyway.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Just to clarify, does the car have a fault now? The way your opening post and reply reads, is that you already have an issue and want cover to falsely claim the problem occurred when on cover.
They're not stupid, a competent mechanic can usually tell if an issue has been around for a while, or only just happened.0 -
OP sounds like a chancer trying to get some pre existing faults repaired under a crappy third party warranty.0
