Curve and Aqua Reward

Just for the record, my Aqua card is contactless.
I'm still wondering why anybody would link an Aqua card to Curve. Why not just use the Aqua card? 0% currency surcharge and 0.5% cashback, also with credit card protection. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. How would you get 1% with Tandem? Did you mean 1% with Curve if you are using one of the selected retailers?0

Maybe he has a secret obsession with Tandem0 -
Some lenders still prefer to not give contactless cards to customers they deem a "risk" to prevent them running up oodles of debt
TSB do this even with their debit cards.
They say contactless is "subject to status" :rotfl:
I received a new card about two weeks ago and it doesn't have the contactless feature. I guess they still consider me either a high risk or some kind of a "low status" client after nearly 5 years with them, with positive balance on my TSB current account at any given time. It used to be several thousands when it was my only bank.
Oh, and I'm still pre-declined in their system for a credit card. TSB credit card must be so super-hyper-special that only the royal family and "illuminati" are eligible for it. I'm really starting to think they are total morons.0 -

They introduced a cashback offer for contactless use, a few weeks after I opened my account.
I phoned up and asked for a contactless card, which came within a few days.0 -
Sorry, but I just don't get it. If you have a perfectly functioning Aqua card that gives rewards and provides S75 coverage, then why would you bother using a debit product to make a transaction and then route it onto the Aqua card and lose any S75 protection?
Is it just the gimmick value that attracts people or is it the fact that you only have to carry one product and remember one PIN or is there also a reward for using your Curve card?
Someone please enlighten me - dinosaur that I am.
PS How did Tandem get into this?
PPS Slovakian Guy, is it the Royal Family, the Illuminati or TSB that are morons?:)0 -
I emailed Aqua and this was their reply:
Please be advised that contactless card are chosen based on a range of selection criteria initially. But eventually all customers will have contactless cards.
Once you are selected for this card, you will be notified accordingly.
I guess I will be using Curve for the time being.0 -
You can use Curve sure.
But as mentioned above you will lose the Section 75 protection for anything over £100.
But then again you would be using a PIN for anything over £30 anyways0 -

Mainly because if I can make contactless payments it will make my life easier when making purchases in-stores. Additionally, for 90 days I will be earning 1.5% cashback (1% from Curve and 0.5% from Aqua) for 90 days which is a nice touch when trying to build a great credit history.
I know using the Curve Card removes any S75 protection however I don't think I'll need it when purchasing fuel, groceries, etc. Additionally, because my Aqua account is new with a small limit, Curve gives me the ability to change the account that the purchase was charged to so if I initially charged my Debit Card (because a purchase would push me over my limit) I would be able to make a payment to aqua and then change the purchase to Aqua to maximise cashback.0 -
