TA Happy Birthday enjoy your day :bdaycake::bdaycake:

Wondered if any of you clever people can help. A house a few doors away is being refurbished and the builders had thrown a large butler type sink away. With their help, I brought it home and it now sits outside my back door. Thought I would plant it with herbs or maybe speedy salad. Not sure if to put compost straight in or do I need something in the base to help with drainage?

We were going out but weather doesn't look good, so I think we will stay warm at home

    Take care all

Birthday hugs from me TA. Your birthday outing sounds amazing - I'd love a high up afternoon tea. Every now and then I look at the Shard but the prices there are

Windy and raining here this morning - the rain woke me up several times during the night so maybe it was hailing.

Gers I'm sorry that your mum is having such a hard time. I hope she recovers quickly.

Snoozer I was so pleased to read your news about Laura.

Take care all of you :)

  • Morning everyone! I'm coming down with a virus and it currently hurts to swallow or talk. I usually get this before a cold breaks out - obviously not ideal.
Hoping everyone else has a healthier and happier day! I'll be here with my lemon and ginger tea.
  • Today is my birthday (how old - 73??!!! Where do the years go!) and what a horrible day it is weatherwise! This morning DD and I are off on the train to Leeds as she has booked early afternoon tea for us both at the Sky Bar. Not the best day to be 13 floors up in this wind admiring the views!!

Followed by time for a bit of retail therapy and then the train back to meet the rest of the family (DD's bf, the 3 DGDs, DS, his DP and her DD) at the lovely Italian restaurant in town for a meal. Table booked for 6.45 and already looking forward to their yummy food.

A busy day in store but I'm sure it will be an enjoyable one

    Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday TA, enjoy your afternoon tea and dinner with the family and have some cake from me :bdaycake: :bdaycake: you can never have too much cake :). xx
  • Good morning chums,

I completed my registration at my new doctors down here the other day, so I decided to phone and make an appointment, mostly to see about my knee as I can't really afford to pay £50 a fortnight for physio. They had a cancellation that night so I nipped in on my way home then went to yoga too.

Terrible weather here. I think the rain battering off my window even woke me up at one point! Anyway, I got up and went to the gym this morning. Was soaked by the time I got in the door. Then went a run and cycle, went for a shower then realised I brought a hand towel instead of a bath towel!! So I looked a bit strange as I attempted to wrap it round and cover me haha!!

I've a lengthy to do list in work, so I recon I'll stay late tonight to get through as much as I can and stay ahead of the game. Thai green curry tonight.

TA - Happy birthday and I'll let you know if the hat's needed haha :)
Camelot - Hope you're on the mend.

Happy Birthday TA hope you have a good day :bdaycake: xx

Please take care Nelski and all our other travellers, it’s horrid out there.
    Lovely news about Laura Snoozer.
If you are planting up the butlers sink for herbs SO I would put some bits of old terracotta pots in the bottom and mix plenty of grit in with your compost as most don’t like wet feet.

Hugs to all with worries and cares, have a good day folks x

    Happy birthday TA.

Gers, drive safely, I hope your mum is better today.

Laura is giving in her notice at the magazine she works for today. She is going totally freelance combined with studying for her acupuncture qualification. I'm glad because she hasn't been happy since the magazine was taken over by new owners with a much longer commute for her.

I've still got this wretched cold but luckily Steve seems to be ok. We went to the surgery to be shown how to give him the stomach injections he has to have for the rest of this week. It's simple enough and I'm sure I'd have been able to do it but he was a bit nervous.
