Old Style Daily Tuesday 12th March 2019

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Yesterday kind of run away with me and I didn’t get anything done in the end.

I fell asleep on the sofa mid-morning and didn’t properly wake up until gone 4.00pm so I must have needed the sleep.

That means, that there is a list of housework and shopping that I was going to do yesterday, that still needs doing. I think I may tackle a bit of the housework and a friend has offered to get the few fresh things I need from the supermarket.

Gers I’mso sorry to hear that your mum is so poorly, I hope that she soon improves x

OrganzaLace sorry to hear that youngest has got work problems.

Taff your garden planning is coming on really well now, it sounds like it will look amazing. We will of course, requite photos in the summer.

It seems no time at all since you were booking your spring break in the IOW JackieO and it’s only four weeks away.

I hope everything goes well for Laura snoozer.

Nanny I hope that you have survived the ‘cupboard under the stairs’.

TA I think that you made the right decision. I’m sure that your neighbour will understand.

Have a good a day everyone.

Good morning, I've slept rather well, woohoo!

Gers I hope today is a better day for your DM.

We have high winds here and some rain so not sure if I'll be going far - depends on how the day pans out. By washing I do today will have to dry indoors, otherwise it will be washing line in Birmingham, pants in Bermuda.

I will need to go shopping for personal bits and bobs at some point but not today.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I so hope you managed to get back to sleep. Nothing keeps like cleaning, don't worry about it. I think my sleeping habit is improving slightly but still a way to go.

Today is my birthday (how old - 73??!!! Where do the years go!) and what a horrible day it is weatherwise! This morning DD and I are off on the train to Leeds as she has booked early afternoon tea for us both at the Sky Bar. Not the best day to be 13 floors up in this wind admiring the views!!

Followed by time for a bit of retail therapy and then the train back to meet the rest of the family (DD's bf, the 3 DGDs, DS, his DP and her DD) at the lovely Italian restaurant in town for a meal. Table booked for 6.45 and already looking forward to their yummy food.

A busy day in store but I'm sure it will be an enjoyable one.

I felt a bit guilty for missing the funeral yesterday but I know I did the right thing for me. The cortege left from up here with all the relatives following down into town. There were cars parked all over the place. He had such a big extended family.

GERS I hope your DM is feeling better today. Such a worry for you.
SNOOZER good news on Laura and I have everything crossed all will be well this time.
GINTOT you have a worrying week ahead of you and we will all have everything crossed for you too next Monday.
TAFF take it easy and don't take too much on too soon.
SPEKY I am getting excited and already thinking about a new hat!
OL not good news about your DS's job. I hope something can be sorted out.

Take care all and ((HUGS)) for everyone in need of them. Have a good day if you can xx

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, thinking of those too who are poorly or have a poorly person to look after x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light here, very blustery again and that seems to be the theme for the coming days.

Dinner last night was steak, chips, peas, onion rings, we had an egg with it too - enjoyed. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost so tonight we'll be having chicken in sauce with either mash and veg, rice or pasta I'll decide during the day.

Yesterday as predicted it was a manic day - made worse by the fact that we don't have as many staff as before and when the staff were struggling and asked for help we were told by management that they wouldn't release anyone to help! They then wonder why staff go off with stress. The worst part of this is that the staff are on site they just won't release them from other duties, today will be much the same. It's my short day though so will just get on with it.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all.

Happy Birthday TA - hope you have a wonderful day with plenty of cake.

I've got a hospital appointment in the early afternoon after which I'm driving home for a quick overnight stay. I need to clear the mail and pick up a few more clothes etc. There's a friend going in to visit DM in my place.

DM sent me a text an hour ago asking about time and place.

I wish everyone a happy Tuesday.

Good morning, it's cold and wet here, and the forecast is dire for most of us I think.

Happy Birthday TA, sounds as if you have a great day ahead, enjoy!!

Gers, I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has had a setback.

Snoozer, great news for you, hope Laura continues to keep well.

Speky, glad your date went well.

I'm expecting the usual Tuesday here, I hope everyone else has as good a day as they can.

    Happy Birthday TA! :bdaycake:

    Morning All

Gosh, it was windy last night. Thought I was going to have to close the bedroom window but I slept through it! Not quite as windy this morning but the rain is lashing down.

Hoping your DM has a better day Gers, be careful driving home, there has been so much rain the roads will be awful.
Good news on the date Specky.
    Fingers crossed Snoozer.

I didn't have a good start to yesterday, I slipped on black ice when I was opening the gates to the drive and fell - I was up fairly quickly in case anyone saw me! I'm pretty stiff down one side but thankfully that's all.

Work wasn't too bad, my colleague was back but still had a croaky voice, she's usually so loud I can't hear on the phone so it was quite nice really.

Hope you all have a good Tuesday, take care. XX
