Warranty & Servicing

Please can somebody advise me on how to proceed with a current issue I have with Kia.
My Kia venga cut out and stopped on Jan 26th. I was towed to Kwik Fit whose master tech said I'd put petrol in a diesel car but they couldn't deal with it. They recommended another garage who charged me £80 but then said I had used the correct fuel and they thought it was the dpf and couldn't do the work.
I had the car towed to the Kia delearship who have now had the vehicle for over a month. I had the car serviced at Kwik Fit and now Kia are saying they won't cover the work under warranty as They claim Kwik Fit used the wrong oil. I have checked Kwik fits details and they are approved to do Kia services and state that it will not affect the warranty. The Kia dealership are advising I find a stand alone garage to sort it as it will cost a fortune. I have put in a complaint with Kia head office who are conducting an investigation but I'd like to be prepared if they say no again. Can anyone help me? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    1. Did you put the wrong fuel in and how did Kwikfix know what fuel went in?

    2. Did Kwikfix put the wrong oil in, and how do Kia know what oil went in?

    3. Has the actual fault been diagnosed in the 4 weeks its been at the Kia dealer?
  • Foxy-Stoat - 1.) I put the correct fuel in but kwik fit said that they could smell petrol and that's how they decided the problem which wasn't the actual problem.

2.) Kwik fit put the oil in on the services that I had done with them in Aug 2017 and Sept 2018 - Kia have copies of these invoices and although it says the oil is suitable for dpf they are arguing that it must be low-ash.

3.) The fault has been diagnosed as the dpf. They have messed around and disconnected the dpf but that means there is smoke coming out of the vehicle and they are saying that's as far as they can do.

Any ideas on whether my warranty is valid? It still has 2 years and when I look on kwik fit website they have a whole page dedicated to the fact that they are approved to do Kia services.

The words "Kwik Fit" and "master tech" are an oxymoron.

Bounce it back to Kwik Fit and let them sort it. Or ask Kia to fix it and put Kwik Fit on warning (by letter) that you intend to recover costs from them.

For the money saved by going to Kwik Fit for your servicing, was it worth all the hassle???

'Approved to do Kia services' does not mean the same as 'Kia approved'.

When you go outside the dealer network (especially with Kia and Hyundai) you need to ensure the parts used are the same as Kia would use.

You need evidence that this is the case - an invoice simply saying 'service carried out will not do - you also need evidence that all the parts replaced are OEM Kia.

Go back to Kwikfit and ask them for full specification details of the oil used when they serviced your car.
