It looks like your store hasn't installed them yet!

You will know them when you see them - they are like ordinary checkouts complete with a conveyor belt, but no checkout operator - you do all the scanning of shopping yourself.
Ours are 4 cubed together in place of 2 tills (or an emergency exit) I think 2 people can stand side by side.

Are there leaflets in store explaining all this?

So, do you do your shopping first of all then find this special 'conveyor belt' thingy...(can't say I've ever seen one!)

I thought there was some sort of 'hand scanner thingy' involved and you scanned as you went around...(sure I've seen peeps doing that!!) or is that a different supermarket?

I'm determined to get the hang of this eventually as I've got loads of coupons!

You're thinking of the Sainsbury's Fast Track thingy or whatever it's called, that's the one with the hand-held scanners. The Tesco self-service tills are the ones that let you use the vouchers, and are a different thing. You do your shopping as normal, and then go to the special checkout. BTW, not all of them have a conveyor belt - some are for baskets only and you pack your stuff directly into bags. Quite handy! And they're not difficult to use, have a go! ;)

Our local Sainsbury's has self-service checkouts, too, but what's the point when they don't take coupons (even for stuff you've bought!!!)

    HTH

    Thanks Dormouse!

Right, now I think I've got it sussed! Just didn't want to look a berk and draw attention to myself as I try to offload a stash of coupons...tee hee.

Just gotta find a Tesco that does Self-Scan now :(

Do yourself a favour and scan your coupons; I do and I cut my shopping bill in half everytime. Word of advice though alcohol coupons can require authorization.

My local Tescos is just having some self scan tills installed.

What is the situation with these and coupons? Will they accept any of them?
