Tesco self-scan and vouchers?

My local Tescos is just having some self scan tills installed.

What is the situation with these and coupons? Will they accept any of them?

    No-one?
  • I used one of these at the weekend, didn't use any coupons tho', will go for it next shop. Bit off putting having the assistant staring at you doing your scanning, but will just have to be bold - I've still got quite a few internet coupons I want to shift ;D

    Hi

Had them for several; months in my local supermarket. They do accept vouchers and even cash and credit cards if you have any problems they have a memeber of staff looking after about 8 of these tills in one go.
I say what I like, I like what I say!
  • My local tesco has just installed these.

Only coupons that will scan will go through. Do not try using Tesco's own vouchers if you haven't bought the product - they won't scan.

If you put too many vouchers in, it won't finish the transaction until a member of staff puts a code in.

I look confident, scan the vouchers as quickly as possible, and call for an assistant when it won't complete the transaction. I always make sure I've bought as many items as I have vouchers - otherwise it would be obvious I was trying it on.

P.S. If when you put the voucher in the slot after scanning it, it won't move on, the voucher is probably stuck in the slot - so give it a quick blow!

    Good luck.

My local tesco self-scan will only take a max of 30% of your bill using vouchers. Fuzzy internet ones won't work in my store. ( i use these at the 'normal' checkouts and save the proper printed ones for the scanner!).
As soon as the machine rejects a voucher, the process stops and you have to await the (unwanted!) attention of an assistant. Depending on who you then get, they may be 'kind' and let you put another one thro.

Personally, I refuse to use self-scan. Why give The supermarkets more money? A self-scan syastem is staff wages they are not having to pay, and yet they don't pass any significant discount onto the customer. If I wanted to work for tesco, I would. Why should I do their work for free?

You dont have it wast time when the girl is talking about her kids or holiday to the person in front.

My pet hate is when you get 100 cans of pet food on bogof for the all the familys animals and you get asked "Have you got a BOG"

  • Luncheon vouchers won't go through the self-scan but they will go through the normal tills. :)
