5:Navigate to windows/system32 directory (type cd \windows\system32 at command prompt ) and type slmgr.vbs -rearm at command prompt.

When you do any of those commands you have to choose run as administrator first.

Dont think you can close it.

So yes just leave it, but come back and join in saving money next time.

There is a lot more to this site to explore.

    So what did you do?
  • I ran the upgrade disc again and it gives you the option to upgrade or install, so chose install and away it went.
Made copies when finished.Don't know how but when it was up and running properly I was able to get into old files and extract music and other bits.
Many thanks for your help Donnie.

Glad you managed to sort it.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I 2nd that if you have the option, normally they only let you do it the once.

What I did recently for a new laptop was make the backup disks as soon as it came and was up and running, then from those disks I made ISO images and burnt another spare set to store in a seperate place.
