Non dependant moving out

In order to request personally identifiable information, there has to be a reason under DPA 2018. Legitimate interest is often quoted when it refers to a person.
Where PII data is requested about a third person, that person ought to give permission and more importantly the organisation asking should know this.
If it is asked, and I don't think it will, then simply say that you'll get the other person to contact the authority to supply the information as you do not have permission.
The days of collecting information "just in case" have gone.Unlike some here, I am not omniscient. If I am wrong correct me. I won't take offence.

More than likely for Council Tax .
They have her living at your address, you tell them she is moving out, they would like to know where, still in same area? new area and wanting to notify new area of Council Tax commitments ? bit like buying a TV and getting a TV licence. and moving to a new property kind of?
I do not see what the problem is about notifying a Government body of where a person may be moving to unless there is a possible violence issue of course.
There is nothing to indicate the person who is moving is liable for Council Tax or TV licence. If moving in with a partner that person is quite possibly already paying for both.
I'm not saying there is a problem with providing the new address, just that there is no justification for requesting it.0 -
Update: I just beento council contact centre informed them that my daughter will be moving out at he wekrnd a She now give me a date ,they took my details then said the y need a forwarding adress for her?
I explained she does not get any benefits whatsoever and will not be moving into rented accommodation acomodation but they insisted that I have to give a forwarding adress for her? I asked why they said for council tax and poll tax reasons
I did explain that her partner already pays all that in the home she’s moving onto ?0 -

No such thing as poll tax!
However, this could simply be a cross check if her partner is receiving the single person's discount on their council tax.
I really can't see that it is a big problem.0 -

Tell them you have no idea, they simply have to take that answer. Plenty of kids move out under a cloud with parents without telling them where they are going. It's nothing , not nothink.0
