What is the difference between 'Under Offer' and 'Sold Subject to Contract' on a Rightmove advert?
Also when does an entry disappear from Rightmove? Is it on exchange or completion? I am aware that sometimes a buyer may ask for the advert to be taken down as a condition of the offer,, but what is the typical pattern?
I can't find the house I want for sale, but I see some suitable ones that are down as 'Under Offer' or 'Sold' and I wonder what the chance are of these coming back to market. I wonder if there is a Rightmove standard, or it is just down to individual agents how 'sold' properties are described/displayed.

In short: Nothing. The agent picks what they, locally or in branch, decide is the right one to choose.

Any sale can fall through. If you set up a Rightmove account, you can save properties to favourites and review their status regularly. Most EAs remarket a house so that it will appear as a new listing, but some just remove the "SSTC" or "Under Offer" banner. If a house is particularly appealing, you can contact the EA and register an interest in case the sale falls through. When a property is finally sold and removed from the market, it will appear greyed-out in your favourites list."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Most EAs remarket a house so that it will appear as a new listing
This isn't necessary true. On Rightmove, a property will not appear as a "new" listing unless it's been delisted (SSTC / under-offer or just withdrawn) for a period of at least 14 weeks. This is because a small group of EA's would regularly delist all their properties and relist them to get them into people's new property e-mail alerts.
If OP is interested in a property which is currently SSTC, they should either
(a) make sure their property search isn't restricted to new listings; or
