I've got to say Intelligent Finance are fantastic, I have been with them for over 6 years, their customer service is excellent and there call centre is in Edinburgh, so no Indian Call Centres, I really cannot recommend them enough. The only downside is you cannot pay money in at any high street bank, but they are looking to change this, but you post cheques etc and they are usually on the account the next day.

I wouldn't move banks, and their website is easy to use and I have several IF accounts attached to my current account, and should I move money from my savings account to my current account, its instantly available to withdraw. Also never had a problem with the site being down or logging in, and whats more the staff when you phone are incredibly nice. (and that's unusual for a bank, if you have a problem).

    b) You can't register with the normal data on a 'current account card'?? You need the sort code / account number - or the Roll number, so you're probably going wrong at the outset?

I am sure nicci958 means her current account "debit" card? The sort code and account number are printed on this

Yes they are - and also the Roll number on the reverse. But in her several posts it's been difficult to work out just what she does mean .... so I wasn't taking it on trust that it's the debit card.
If you've got a Halifax current account - their 'online' facility is the easiest to initiate. And you'd struggle to believe they don't do current accounts which are free?

My two cents: Nationwide absolutely fantastic. Barclays is just OK, it can be very slow at times, I can't say i'm that impressed with it. But NW gets a thumbsup :)

Have or have had current/savings accounts with LLoyds, Nat West, Cahoot, A&L, Abbey, Barclays, Smile, First Direct and would without doubt say that Lloyds online banking is the best.
Simple, straightforward, easy to set up/use, fast and rarely has any downtime at all unlike some of the others.
