£500 is very generous, i’d Be bitting their hand off, 3 year free servicing and cash is over doing it a bit, £500 pays for a lot of cleaning, maybe not when all our Eastern European friends leave!!

If it helps, I spliced the two..

Front Nimbus, back Cumulus. Personally I'd snap their hands off at £500 because I prefer the Nimbus and the difference looks to be very little. :)

Is there a possibility that if you don’t accept the cash compo and you are using the car the garage may insist on a refund with a deduction for the use that you have had

I'd say it's not clear - a fairly cloudy choice.

Interesting try pulliptears, but I don't think that's very realistic. Unfortunately many images on the internet aren't very realistic
eg. look here, and the two greys look almost indistinguishable:
    https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/peugeot-3008-colour-guide-952

In 'reality' the dark grey (nimbus) colour is 'much' darker than your image suggests - one friend approaching from a distance today initially thought it was black - you'd certainly not consider the light grey car as being black.

Likewise in reality, the light grey (cumulus) colous is 'much' lighter than your image suggests.

The GT Line versions have a black roof. With the nimbus coloured body, you can't really notice the roof as being a different colour. With the cumulus coloured body, there is a vast contrast.

(In reality I would equate nimbus as 'almost black' and cumulus as 'silver' - no one would ever consider black and silver as being 'similar')

But I happily repeat, colour is a personal quality. What one person likes, another won't.
My issue is not which is the best colour, but what compensation I should receive (if any!) for accepting a car which was NOT the colour that I ordered.

If you ordered a light blue shirt, or light blue trainers, and you were sent dark ones, would you ask for an exchange? (Probably, unless you preferred the darker ones - in which case why didn't you order the darker ones). And that is for a shirt/trainers that might cost £100.

In my case I am talking about a car that cost well over £20k and is not what I ordered. A replacement is possible but would mean me waiting another 7 months!

Simply because the garage made an error.....

This did actually happen to me - sort of. I ordered an interior with dual colours. The car arrived with just a black interior and the dealer owned up to their cork up.

Like you I had the choice of reordering or accepting with some compo.
They rely on the fact a) you're excited and b) you know it will be weeks until the new one is made. I suspect 95% of people just accept the offered compo. In my case it's the first 3 services so about £600.

You should call their bluff and make them reorder.

However I rarely think about my dual colour interior and in reality after the first day when I was annoyed it's caused me 0 minutes problem.

Thanks robatwork. You're right. On all points.

'If' I keep the car, of course, I'll just get used to the colour and forget that it wasn't the one I ordered.

And I agree that most people would simply accept the first offer (though in my case the alternative is a minimum 7 month wait, not just 'weeks'....)

But am just rather annoyed that 'I' have been put in this situation through no fault of my own - I double checked that all documents were correct (Shame that the garage doesn't appear to have double-checked all their internal documentation...)

I accept that mistakes do happen. But now that it has, the aim 'should be' to minimise the disruption (and cost) to both me and the garage. Requesting a replacement is going to place significant disruption on me, and significant cost on the garage (which I estimate to be in the thousands of pounds.).

Hence, I feel that £500 plus 3-years servicing would be appropriate - the 3-year servicing presumably being much less 'cost' to the garage than the 'value' is to me.

    Maybe I am being unreasonable......

(Did I mention? The garage never even told me they had ordered/received the incorrect colour! They emailed me to say that they had received it, but no mention of the incorrect colour. They then had it delivered to my house a few days later, along with written documents mentioning the colour I had ordered. Presumably they were hoping that I would just accept it without question. It already left a very sour taste in my mouth....)

No one on here can tell you what is acceptable, you seem to have decided.

go back to them and tell them £500 is not enough and ask for the servicing as well, see what they say.

we ordered a new car with electric , memory seats. We did point out that the model the salesman was selling us did not have these. It was the next model up. But he was insistent so the order was made,

When the car arrived there no memory seats.

My husband told the salesman- not the original- we did not want it. He was speechless and did not believe him.

He did mumble that guy who sold us the car had cost them a lot of money and no longer worked there.

The correct model was duly ordered and delivered.
