Providing you notified them within 30 days of receiving the goods, your rights are as follows (courtesy of the consumer rights act).
1) A refund
2) A repair or replacement (to bring the goods within conformity of the contract)
3) A price reduction
Of course price reduction only kicks in for certain circumstances. Off the top of my head its when a repair/replacement are impossible, you've requested a repair/replacement but the goods still fail to conform or the trader has been unable to repair/replace within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Agreed. I don't think compensation (in the form of cash) is likely to be the best option.
Better is some sort of 'service' in which case the cost to garage is lower, but benefit to me is higher.
Hence the service option (saving to me is about £200 a time, whilst cost to garage is probably only half of that).
Not sure what else there is though......maybe the body protection stuff (though have never considered it worthwhile in the past).
Any other 'service' type options...?There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't!0 -
Interesting points unholyangel.
Refund - I don't really want that, as my purchase price was at least £2k cheaper than what it would cost today.
Repair or replacement - Well repair is not applicable as nothing is broken. Replacement is presumably possible, but not 'within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience' - it could take another 5 months, same as I have waited for this one.
Price Reduction - hmmmm...not sure how much? There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't!0 -
OK. Have been offered £500 cash, or a replacement sometime around October........There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't!0

Your wife likes the colour, take the cash0

+1 for that - £500 = £400 towards service over the next few years, + £100 to buy some really cool sunglasses so you look really cool next to your shiny new car, AND you can't really see the colourI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Smiling and waving and looking so fine0 -
I think the colour you got sounds much nicer than the colour you ordered.
If I were to order a new car colour it would be canary yellow.0 -
Accept the £500 cash. Its a good deal, Granted you didn't get what you paid for/requested. You can reinvest the money back into the car in future use, Tyres, MoT, serviceable parts or even look at it as £500 worth of fuel.
I've bought 2 cars new, One from Seat who didn't look after me. They sold me a car that my at time partner wanted, But they refused to remove the optional extras that was fitted to the car that we didnt ask for. They insisted that we had to pay the extra money for them.
The other car was from Ford, They bent over backwards for me. I requested a white car and had to be a 3 door. They supplied me with what I asked for, But the car they scoured for me from the factory came with quite a few optional extras worth roughly £500. All of these were FOC.
So I think you're onto a winner with that offer.0 -
Of course, colour is a matter of personal taste.
No colours are terrible (although 'personally' I might question 'yellow'...lol...)
Car is a Peugeot 5008.
GT Line Premium comes with a black roof. Looks great set off against a lighter colour body such as white or light grey. Un-noticeable against a dark grey car.
A darker car also shows the dirt more - this car has only been on drive for a couple of days and looks dirty (albeit it has been horrible, rainy weather).
Next to it is our previous car (in silver as opposed to light grey, but very similar) - hasn't been washed for 2 weeks but doesn't look particularly dirty at all.
So far my choice is £500 or a replacement, but have to wait till October for it. I've already had to wait 5 months to get this one! So would be a year from ordering to received the car I ordered.
'I' think, to accept the current car (AND to avoid the garage incurring significant losses if they took it back - not only having to sell this as a second-hand car but also to provide me with a new vehicle at the same cost, whereas they have gone up almost £3k), I think suitable compensation would be perhaps a cash sum plus something else like 3-years servicing. There are 10 types of people in the world.
