Should window fitter patch up render beneath external sill?

Thx. I didn't sign any contract but accept their quotation in which the T&C says "make good to area surrounding new work excluding decoration."
Replacing render with silicon is not 'making good' to my mind. They should re-render (but not re-paint the render (decoration).
I'm in a middle of renovation so the fitter didn't have to worry about damaging decoration anyway. The fitter I used is the 2nd most expansive but because he came recommended so I went with him. He's Fensa registered.

The external finish has NOT been changed at all. I'm just concerned about the durability of the window or any potential problems with the way it is done. Building regulation did not specify if silicone can be used as a filler for frame to be sat on.Just had a new upvc window fitted, a large piece of render (2cm thick, 60cm wide) came off with the old window because it was stuck at the bottom of old external window.Replacing render with silicon is not 'making good' to my mind. IMO the external finish has been changed. Agree with you that is not making good, it is not a like-for-like repair. AFAIK (according to instructions on tubes of product) sealant is not intended to be used for such wide gaps.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Redecorated my kitchen & utility room last year. Some new uPVC windows had been fitted some 12 years ago, and the fitters had "made good" any damage to the internal plaster....
Had stuck lumps they had broken off with gobs of silicone sealant and covered it up with wallpaper (also stuck down with silicone sealant). You need to watch some of these guys like a hawk and slap them down the minute they attempt to start bodging.
So, so, true and a lesson i've learned over the last couple of years !
I always make a point of being around when jobs get done for me now, used to be far too trusting - not so much now though0
