Am no expert, but won't his new house [courtesy of his Mum] be included in his assets when the clean break order is hashed out?
That could work in the OP's favour if so.

I suspect the mum bought it in her name

Worth checking with the Land Registry, surely? Only costs a few quid to get the entry [assuming OP knows the address].

Thank you all for the advice - I fear his mother will either purchase it in her name or refuse to give him anything till the divorce is settled! The land registry idea is a good one but he is stating he is going to be live in a campervan (I think so the kids cant tell me where he is living!!!). Such a sad sad state of affairs, dont feel I know who I was with all that time!!!

I did tick that part of the form, so by the sounds of it, it will need to be done or even considered before the divorce is finalised!?

The problem will be proving the money spent was done by him. Unfortunately you took it on so I hate to say it but I will be surprised if there’s little you can do.

I’d honestly cut all ties and let the children decide if they want to see their dad or not

act as your heart wishpers to you, debt is a temporal thing, but if you unhappy in your marrige for quite a long time, I guess it's not worth to live in.
