question about 1st April deadline for switching to HSBC

I'm thinking of switching one of my tesco accounts to HSBC for the switch incentive. I've just seen the offer closes on 1st April, but it also says you have to switch within 30 days of account opening.
Does that mean I can open the account on say 31st March, then switch within 30 days (ie after 1st April) and still get the incentive?
I don't want to lose a month's interest at Tesco if I don't need to.
