Morning All, Unsure if I'm in the correct place but need some help.
I will try and keep it short but I cannot promise anything


Basically me and my partner moved into a new house end of last year only to find out that the boiler was 20+ years old and was condemmed so we had to try and get a plumber in to install a new system for us.


We found a plumber that was a recommendation from someone and he come along to resolve our issues. According to this guy we needed a new complete system. Initially quoting us about £2.5k - he started the work in August 2018, and nothing but problems ever since, we only managed to move into the house just before Christmas.



He didnt have a clue what he was doing whatsoever, we had raidiator leaks, things were installed incorrectly, additional parts were purchased when they didnt need to be, he turned up and left whenever he wanted, let us move all of our belongings up incuding our beds only to be told that he cannot figure out what the issue was and was unable to stay there (had told us we couldnt stay there numerous of times even thought promises were made that we could). Luckily for us we hadnt given notice yet of the old house so was able to stay here but had to sleep on the floors including my disabled step son!



After everything was done as per his say so we got in touch with Gas Safe because we wanted to be sure that what he had done was okay because we were still having issues, once Gas safe arrived they did an inspection of his work and my goodness there were at least 16 important parts that needed to be resolved, one of them being the plumber hadn't even registered the boiler with the relevant people, installed parts that wasn't needed etc etc. The plumber was contacted and told of this which he come back to resolve the points listed. Items were removed incuding a big gas tank and overflow unit in the loft.



After all of this we have settled down a little bit now but are still unhappy with the whole situation as he hasn't provided up with a breakdown of costs, he owes us money for the downstairs bathroom which he never did etc. Constant promises to send things and we never get anything back - I'm so tierd of it all now dealing with this guy and constant battles with trying to get things from him.


From reading this long post and hopfully makes sense, does anyone know where we stand with this complete and utter moron? :mad:

Apart from the legal side, which others will advise on, consider a dose of vile on his facebook, twitter etc. Tell all your friends how good he is etc. hopefully gas safe will also jump on him.

We need something legal I think because he just isn't bothered when we try and contact him. He did have his company registered at his house however I'm lead to believe he has now moved so unsure of how it stands now, but his company isnt on facebook or anything, we find a website which is full of fake recommendations etc. Acute Heating Services, 6 springwell view, birstall, Batley a guy called Connor Sweeney absolute moron. We have also had a few people deal with him and again he has ripped them off too. Not sure after the list was given to him to come and complete what happens now if Connor has gone back to say hes done it all. Not sure if Gas Safe come back out and reinspect, whether they give him anything I'm unsure of it all.

I want to stop this guy from doing it to others so much, he is lucky really that I have managed to keep my cool - my partner deals with him better where as me I'm more the vocal one lets say lol.

Others may be able to give greater advice regarding legal, however please keep in mind if he is a one man band 5then he simply has to fold up his (likely limited company) and set up as a new one, means likely be able to walk from any liabilities and bad rep as new firm new name.

Won’t tell you not to pursue this, but consider how much time and effort it will be and how little it will likely impact this rogue trader... haven’t you been inconvenienced enough?

He's already had a company dissolved off by compulsory strike off

How much does he owe you? The other question is would it be worth the time and effort attempting to recoup the money given it's likely you won't see it again even if you obtain a ccj?

As waamo says you will probably struggle to get anything back, you need to decide if and when to cut your losses.

We built our house 9 years ago now and I decided that it was pointless chasing the builder as he would have just liquidated the company.
