Old Style Daily Thursday 7th March 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I’m off out for coffee with a friend this morning, and then have a doctors appointment. When I get back I’m planning on a curl up on the sofa with a book for the afternoon.

The house doesn’t look too bad, so anything that does need doing can wait until tomorrow. I do have a load to go in the washing machine, but it rained for most of the day yesterday, and the forecast is for showers today so I think I will leave that for now.

Hester the new boat looks lovely. I’m sure that you will both really enjoy living on it.
Gers I’m sorry about your DM’s diagnosis, at least you will be able to spend more time with her now you have decided to retire.
Hope all went well at the hospital taff and you got the forms completed by your nurse.
AOD cystitis can be really painful, I hope that you are feeling a bit better today.
Congratulations on the weight loss nannywindow and Bozwood.
Nelski I hope the course went well and the journey home was smooth.
The pampering sounds good Camelot, I hope that you enjoyed it.

    Morning All

Rain is still falling but at least the wind has died down, we had sleet yesterday morning, thankfully nothing came of it, just more rain!

Gers, that card sounds really lovely.
    Happy New Boat HH.
Well done to the weight loss nanny & Bozwood (wow, 6 stone!)
    Welcome whatkatysaved.

Massage was really good but a little painful at my shoulders (which crack and pop alarmingly) and my eyebrows are all tidy, I had a nice relaxing evening catching up on some TV.

Swimming, work, netball match and then meeting with friends, nice busy day ahead.

Have a good day, take care. XX

Tried for a sleep in this morning but it aint happening need to try and stay up later and see if that works.

Home from my homage to the wonderful welshy wales. Course went well with 70 hormonal milleniums :D made me feel very old when I was telling the Ratner story and not one had heard his name. They all googled it there and then ...another sign of the times

    Mum day today.

Need to pick some bread up but nothing more, this freezer use up is now an obsession so nice cheap month shopping wise. Work wash was in at 4.30 so should be done now.

    have a great day all

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off Holly, enjoy your coffee

    Gers
I'm sorry to hear about your DM's diagnosis.

Hester I think your new boat looks amazing.

AOD hope you feel better soon

    Whatkatysaved welcome

Yesterday two lovely young men came and my garden looks so much better. Hedge is tidy and a couple of feet shorter, trees pruned and everything taken away. I can't believe it only took them two hours, I struggle for hours and don't seem to achieve much. I'll try and cut the lawn as soon as we have a dry day.

Not sure what we're doing today.

    Take care all

    Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, not raining at the moment, so drying up underfoot but more rain forecast later, so will be wet again soon enough.

DH up and getting ready for work, DS1 still in his pit, and I'm showered, dressed and just finished my porridge.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, mushrooms, mash, carrots, broc, peas and gravy. Not sure about tonight but will organise later.

Work yesterday was quite quiet but it's the calm before the storm - bills are en route - so it won't be quiet for much longer.

I'm now on days' off but have a training session this morning, but then will go into town and do the normal jobs I do on a Thursday.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning folks.

Thanks so much for thinking about my DM. Now that she has the diagnosis she seems more relaxed as she's stopped worrying about there being anything more aggressive wrong. We had a very calm chat about money and inheritance last night, being German she likes things orderly! Not that she's going to drop off the perch in the near future.

This morning a bloke is coming to service the two flashing lights which are connected to the downstairs intercom. Then DM's cleaner is coming so I'll hide in the bedroom and do some prep for my afternoon teaching session. I have to pick up meds for DM and a parcel from M&S afterwards. Fun day?

Camelot - an eyebrow tidy is just what I need, mine are like Peter Capaldi's. Hope the massage relaxes you for a good while.

Nelski - whilst I'll miss being in education I'm not going to do consultation work. It's more demanding and time consuming. This time round I'll stop properly.

SO - I'm glad that you've got help in the garden, it's one less worry for you and you and OH can enjoy the results.

Holly - housework can always wait! Mind you, even my relaxed view about dust gets shaken up when watching that TV programmes about extreme cleaning.

    AO - keep pushing fluids!

I hope everyone is doing OK. Happy Thursday to all.
