Don't have Sky but yes the line rental is required as it is the mechanism by which you receive broadband. You don't have to connect a phone if you don't wish to.

Also if you want a price comparison then you need to say which Sky Broadband you have - the correct name should be given on your bills. There will be multiple packages so people need to know which one you have before they can offer their costs.

I don't know what people "typically" pay but Now Broadband are offering broadband at £18 a month. Their fibre service is £25. These include free anytime calls but, as you don't have a house phone, that won't be of any use to you.

I suspect that when the OP refers to "Sky WiFi Cost" the OP just means Sky broadband and isn't referring to the Sky WiFi service (included with Sky broadband) that allows subscribers to connect to The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots.

    I pay Sky £20 a month for broadband & line-rental, and £3 a month for mobile (unlimited minutes/texts).

Gah! And today, 3 or 4 months in to the contract, the b*stards send me a letter saying that they're charging me an extra £1 a month!

At least I can cancel without penalty. It's still a good deal, but I'm pretty angry that Sky think that they can just change the terms of an agreed contract like that and say "take it or leave it".

Imagine if I told them I'd pay £1 a month less and they could "take it or leave it"!!!

They will let you leave without penalty as they are changing the terms. It would be worse if they didn't let you leave without penalty if they changed the price upwards.

But they're not changing the terms of an agreed contract, that's the rub. It's a contract that you and others already agreed to. Of course as part of the already agreed contract you can leave penalty free. I don't understand why people get  over something that they agreed to in the first place.
