Did I read on this forum somewhere that a member was having trouble with this company ie involving the press or something dodgy. It was about a year ago when I first started looking into reclaiming ppi.
This insurance was taken out to cover a bank loan for a car.
It was taken out voluntarily as there was no explanations at the time regarding not needing this type of cover as your employer pays sick pay when you're absent from work.
The product was not sold by the bank it was searched for by myself using an online search engine (not sure which)
It was £5.35 per month for three years from 2005 to 2008.
Many thanks

There's no mis selling involved in your sale.
Only potentially some mis buying.0 -

Whilst some PPI doesnt cover you if you have employer sick pay, the majority of PPI covering debts does. The product was not sold by the bank it was searched for by myself using an online search engine (not sure which)
So, who missold it to you?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
You actively sought out and purchased this policy online with no involvement from any sales people - so how can it be mis-sold?!
Very few policies would not pay out in addition to sick pay entitlement - if you considered your benefits to be substantial enough on their own why did you then seek out insurance?0 -
I took out the insurance as I thought you had to or it was a good idea to. Also as you could search and find the best products on search engines perhaps I naively thought it was good to do so.
Since then knowledge and information has informed me that not only was this not necessary but in fact should not have been sold at all.0 -
That's not true.
It was very often a wise move and certainly nothing to suggest it should not have been sold.
Whether you were right to buy it is a separate matter.0 -
If it had come in useful I doubt you'd be this worried about it.
However, the fact remains you cannot complain to anyone about this because you sought out the information, you decided what product was suitable, you bought the product. No one sold it ot you therefore there is no misselling.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

And you can still buy standalone PPI today. Nothing has changed.
The PPI issue is not about the product. it is about the way it was sold. Yours was not sold to you.Since then knowledge and information has informed me that not only was this not necessary but in fact should not have been sold at all.
Your assumption is wrong there. Whoever has informed you of that was wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. When I read the mse info it says 'if you have it' you are most likely to be able to claim.
Will Plevin apply?0 -
Not sure you’re grasping this... you clearly didn’t have to have it or it would have been sold with your lending by your lender, as you sought this out on your own time you clearly took this off your own volition... in other words NO ONE SOLD YOU PPI, therefore there can be NO mos-selling.
Furthermore Plevin only applies to PPI taken out with lending as it relates to changes in consumer credit act, as yours was a stand alone policy Plevin will not apply.0 -
