Make friends with a Pole and ask if you can use his grandmother's address, I don't think picking an address at random is a good idea.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

I don’t want to get into a debate but I’m sick of these sudden bombshells brexit keeps dropping.

It's barely a "sudden" event. The referendum was in 2016 and the article 50 was triggered 2 years ago. The terms of registering an .eu domain must have been known to the OP when he registered that domain.

To those who want to provide a fictional postal address, it will breach the terms of any domain registrar. If they find out, you'll most likely lose the domain.

I registered it 10 years ago, and the only thing I knew was being allowed to register it. I didn't know it was only for club members.

This bombshell hit 25 days from the Brexit date when my register contacted me, which was probably when the EU released a late notice, and I bet most people had no idea it was coming.

The industry as a whole has been quite shocked at the EUs stance on this.
Everyone who I know thought the EU would allow 'grandfather' domains to be kept.

I don't know if they are planning on using this as a bargaining chip in the negotiations, but the answer is that you must register an EU address and transfer the domain there if you want to keep it.

It sucks, but blame the EU for their ideological instead of practical stance.

That sounds like 'head in the sand'

Ignoring Brexit for a minute because this rule applies to ANYBODY who moves away from an EU/EEA country. It was never mentioned that they would get 'grandfather' rights. Brexit changes nothing. It was probably unheard of up to now because of the very low numbers it would have affected - only the odd person moving away from Europe.

It's not as if they changed the rules just to p**s off Brits who held EU domains. What was expected from the sound of it is that in true 'We are British so do as we want' stance, it was expected that they would alter the rules just for us.

unforeseen, if it was all about rigidly sticking to rules then our original UK rules would have meant eu citizens having to leave. But we accommodated.

Anyway, does the below mean eu citizens who live in the uk might get special treatment when new eu framework comes in, but uk citizens will be left out?

"PLEASE NOTE: There may be situations of EU citizens, who at present are residing in the UK and have registered a .eu domain name. These citizens would become ineligible as a result of the UK withdrawal and would, therefore lose their eligibility for a .eu domain name, but might become eligible again when the new .eu regulatory framework comes into force later this year. At present, such individuals will experience a disruption of service from 30 May 2019, as a result of the withdrawal of the name."

A lot of people look at the domain suffix and assume that the website owner/business is based there. So, it's good that that the EU try to prevent misuse of .eu domains.

It wouldn't be right for UK companies to keep .eu domains when we aren't in the EU.

Even though I want to keep this domain, can anyone point to guides on selling and where to do so? I've never sold a domain in my life and while I want to avoid this, need the knowledge just in case.

But just to be clear, I'm hoping to keep it!
