Definitely no buyers up here!

So our house has been on the market for three months with little interest. So I looked on the sold properties in our town at our price or £20k lower. Only two have sold in the three months!
This is a good FTBs house and they are all struggling with lack of jobs etc.

Same in my area. Lots of houses which would normally sell quickly sitting there for months. Uncertain times I guess.

I'm about to put my former rental property on the market and have noticed more properties coming on the market in the last week or so. EAs I've spoken to say that here at least there are plenty of viewers, but that doesn't seem to translate to buyers.

There is a hold back due to uncertainty until next month

Expect things to come back to normal in June when the country settles down a bit.

So our house has been on the market for three months with little interest.

Hardly surprising really, it's probably the worst time in a decade to be trying to sell due to the uncertainties regarding Brexit.

Only today BMW have again warned they may be forced to move Mini production to Germany while Toyota are now casting doubts on the future of their Derby factory. A lot of people must be very worried whether they'll still have their job a year from now and therefore whether committing to a long term mortgage is the right decision until the full scale of the Brexit fiasco is known.

  • There are usually buyers for anything anywhere. Its whether you want to reduce the price to fit,

However, most of the above is correct too - uncertain times. I don't agree it will settle by June though

    Where is "up here"?
The reason I ask is that we are actually busy and so are most of the brokers I know.
January was as busy as January 2017 and 2018.
February was as busy as Feb 2017 but a little behind last year and March is already ahead of last year and we are only 5 days in.

I genuinely thought we would be sat twiddling our thumbs but with the cases we have and the applications we are receiving, I think we will be busy right up to and beyond brexit. God knows what it will be like after that but there is no slow down. We have customers up and down the country and the only slow down I can see is in London. Everywhere else we seem to be getting enquiries from.

I'm in a small town in the Home Counties and it's dead.
  • I bought a house that needed renovating. I took 8 months to renovate the house during which time I employed many contractors. As anyone would expect there were a couple of minor issues, however I would recommend every contractor that I used until I employed Hillary's.

I have worked in business consultancy for over 15 years and never in that time have I encountered such appalling customer service and incompetency as I did at Hillary's. After a 4 month struggle I have been left out of pocket due to associated costs, without the carpet that I ordered, paid for and begged them to fit for 4 months, and with no compensation or a formal apology.

They forced a refund on me despite my many calls and emails explaining that I didn't want a refund, I wanted a carpet that was fit for purpose (three visits from carpet fitters who said that they could not fit the carpet because it was not fit for purpose.) They had kept my bank details and transferred the money against my wishes. When I tried to discuss this with someone whom I was told was senior management they informed me that they would not provide a new carpet and could see no way forward. They then informed me that they didn't wish to discuss it further and hung up the phone (apparently their calls are recorded so this call should be available for review).

Finally I have been told that because a refund has been issued (namely the refund that was forced upon me) Hillary's are under no obligation to discuss the case any further. Goodbye.

I cannot stress strongly enough. Do not use this company.

Bunty, you're on the wrong board, and no idea why you've tagged it onto the end of a property thread...

We are in North Lincolnshire, on the Nottinghamshire border. There is a lot of talk about regeneration all the time but nothing changes, went to post a package this morning in the main PO, long queue and almost everyone was drawing out their benefits and buying lottery tickets. So disheartening to see a once thriving town like this.
