Ryanair - how big is the bag sizer?

So I have had to give in to my better judgement and book with Ryanair. Already stressing about it! I have not paid for any additional bags, as I am only planning on taking a handbag with me as it is a day trip.
In theory such a bag is included in the ticket price.
The max cabin bag sizes according to the booking are 40 x 20 x 25cm.
My bag is under the 40 width and 20 depth, but is just under 30cm tall. So too large.
However I have seen posts on here and elsewhere indicating that the actual dimensions of the bag sizer are 42 x 20 x 30.
My handbag meets these dimensions and I think it will fit under the seat in front.
Anyone got any experience of how Ryanair staff will treat my handbag - I really don't want to be stung for additional fees on the day!
Thanks.

As it's a day trip you can't need to take much with you. Could you not use a smaller bag?0

“However I have seen posts on here and elsewhere indicating that the actual dimensions of the bag sizer are 42 x 20 x 30.”
Can you post a link? I haven’t seen that.
If you have a soft bag it might be quite possible to slightly squash your bag into the gate sizer but I think you need to assume it will be sized according to the airlines baggage rules.
That said, if that is your only piece of luggage I doubt you will be challenged and have an issue with it.0 -
Heaven forbid people read the rules and take a bag to conform to them, rather than searching for loopholes.0

I may have misunderstood, but it seems to indicate that the actual size of bag is 42 x 20 x 30 cm. This confuses me slightly, as the booking states 40 x 20 x 25.
My handbag is slightly taller - around 28cm, but if the sizer truly is slightly larger, then it will fit just fine.
I don't mind taking another bag, but would rather use this one if it is going to be ok anyway.
It meets the criteria of being a handbag and will fit under the seat in front.0 -
Their website seems to suggest the ‘small’ bag should be no bigger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm.

I couldn’t see anything mentioned about the sizer cage being 42 x 20 x 30 and not sure why they would have a difference size cage to the maximum sizes given to passengers for their bag.0 -
Ryanair hand luggage allowance:
From the 1st November 2018, cabin baggage allowance on all Ryanair flights will be changing. Only priority boarding passengers will be allowed one small bag (40x20x25cm), plus a larger cabin bag (55x40x20cm) with a maximum weight allowance of 10kg into the cabin. Passengers who do not have priority boarding will only be able to bring one small cabin bag on board free of charge.0 -
Well - I took my slightly large but obviously a handbag on the flight, and it was completely fine. No issues at all, and it fits easily in the bag sizer frame.
So..... while Ryanair says the max small cabin size bag is 40 x 25 x 20, the reality is that bags slightly larger than this are fine.0 -
....until they decide to enforce their exact rules to get some more cash.Rural_Puppy wrote: »Well - I took my slightly large but obviously a handbag on the flight, and it was completely fine. No issues at all, and it fits easily in the bag sizer frame.

...or the staff on duty that day are more of a jobsworth than the staff the OP encountered.0

...or the flight is full and they're told to enforce it.0
