So do you think i could cover the grace period in my witness statement? I also overpaid on the ticket - £2.60 rather than the £2.50 so would there be room to argue that the extra 10p more than covers the 8 minute overstay - or is that just a silly point to make?0 -
8 minutes is within the 10 minutes grace period. I see no reason not to mention it.0

At the time of the alleged offense, the BPA doesn't mention any specific times for grace periods. only that they must exist. it's only in the current revised additions that specifically state 10 minutes0 -

That isn't a massive issue. By any reasonable standard 8 minutes is a small grace period and to short to exit on a busy day.0 -

13.4 You should allow the driver a reasonable period to leave the private car park after the parking contract has ended, before you take enforcement action. If the location is one where parking is normally permitted, the Grace Period at the end of the parking period should be a minimum of 10 minutes.
It is obvious therefore that the BPA considers a ten minute grace period to be reasonable.
Parking does not start until the vehicle is stopped in a parking space, and ends when the vehicle leaves the space. Grace periods do not apply to driving around looking for a space or queueing to leave, and judges have determined that this is not parking.
Even if you can't squeeze grace periods into your defence, the scammers have presumably quoted a parking time. This opens the door to allow you to challenge the fact that time on site is not the same as time parked.I married my cousin.
