Unsure if I can claim

Something similar happened to me. I bought my house 4 years ago. My mortgage advisor was offering a number of insurances etc which he told me I needed to have. I have recently checked my paperwork and realised that I’ve been paying PPI - with legal and general since I had my mortgage. I am single and live on my own. Is it necessary for me to have that cover ? Was it missold to me? I’m not good with all this PPI stuff so any advice would be appreciated0

I didn’t pay him but I know he got commission for the mortgage and no doubt had commission from legal and general0

Necessary no. In the same way it is not necessary to pay your mortgage. However, they could be consequences. For example, cancelling it and then suffering a claimable event and finding yourself unable to pay the mortgage and having no insurance to claim on.Was it missold to me?

Does anyone know if there are any apps or ways of checking if You’ve ever had PPI? I’ve had credit cards in the past but no documents so not sure0

You simply contact your providers and ask... most will allow to make enquiries via their websites.0

Payment protection insurance - I’m guessing this is my life cover and accident cover as well as home insurance, which I know is essential really0
