Hi there
Over the last month or so my internet service has become really slow so I have been looking into switching to another provider.
All of the new providers are telling me that fibre is not available in my area, I have checked with openreach and they tell me that fibre is available.
Further more I have been paying Talktalk (my current provider) £5 a month for the last 5 years or so for a fibre boost.
Could I have been paying this for nothing?
Does anybody know if there is a roll out to boost capacity of fibre (I believe it does go to my local cabinet as stated by Openreach but there is no capacity for me to get it?)
Thanks in advance to anybody with answers! :money:

If Openreach are saying 'fibre' is available, and the providers you have tried say it isn't, perhaps it's FTTP, ( fibre to the premises) and TT ( for example) don't bother offering it ( although they could if they wanted to, they chose not to )
Try entering your post code on the BTW checker ( if you have a TT line the phone number won't work )
If FTTP is available , and you want to benefit from the higher speed it offers then you would have to use an ISP that retails it.

You can check if you are currently receiving fibre broadband by doing a simple speed test. Either use your MyAccount, or I use Uswitch website. If you get more than 17-20mb/sec download speed you are definitely on fibre. It maybe your PC is running slow.I only get speeds of 26-29mb/sec, but 38-39 on my iPhone. Good Luck.0

If things have slowed down recently I would be investigating to see if there is a fault on your line. Your internet connection speed should be stable.Hi there

It may be that the capacity for cable is at a maximum, so, whilst fibre exists, new connections are impossible0
