Old cast iron radiators when refurbished can be worth quite a bit. They are very fashionable in loft style apartments etc. They usually need more than sand blasting and painted so it can be a specialist job. Cast iron radiators are usually made in several sections all bolted together with a large bolt at the top and bottom and sometimes they need to be dismantled and put back together again during restoration. They also sometimes need pressure tested for leaks as cast iron easily cracks.

It may be worth taking the lot to a scrap metal dealer - if you pass one on your way somewhere? and can get it in/out of your vehicle OK.
Alternatively a local recycling centre will take them and the scrap value should help towards the running costs of the facility?

My tip is to ring up a few scrap dealers before you go. The prices differ dramatically and it will be a different price to if you just turn up. For example the place I usually go will be more like £1/kg for ali.
